Here is AM 294, a CAF AM series EMU on the Western Line, a part of Auckland's commuter rail network. It is operated by Transdev under the AT Metro brand. These are the new electric trains introduced on the network starting early 2014, which gradually replaced all diesel trains until late 2015, except for the section Papakura-Pukekohe, which is not electrified and still operated by an hourly diesel train shuttle. Wellington is the other city in New Zealand to have commuter trains, though I did not visit Wellington during my stay in New Zealand.
All AM EMU trains are three cars, with AMA being the cab motor car, AMT the middle trailer car with low floor, and AMP cab motor car with pantograph. Each three-car element can be coupled to form a six-car train where higher ridership permits it. The set numbers does not appear to follow a set sequence, for whatever reason, which is unusual (see full list of fleet numbers below).
