Connor Boyack and Real Life Liberty - A Voluntary View 011
Jeff is joined by Connor Boyack, founder of the Libertas Institute and author of The Tuttle Twins books! They discuss Connor’s work promoting liberty in the real world, strategies to help people accept the ideas of freedom, and how Connor’s anti-state views interact with his conservative religion (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints [Mormon]).
Connor’s video freezes at about 17 minutes, but the audio continues fine. Sorry about that!
How long will this evil insanity persist? Until enough people say “no.”

Auberon Herbert (1838-1906) coined the term “voluntaryism.” Fed up with government after serving in the English Parliament, and disgusted at the effects of England’s wars, he built upon the ideas of individualist anarchist Herbert Spencer in a series of essays and speeches. In this episode, Jeff reads an excerpt from one of Herbert’s speeches that is still very applicable today.

Today our extra-special guest is Nina Prevot, a trademark and entertainment attorney. She joins Jeff to discuss intellectual property (IP), something that is a point of contention between libertarians/anarchists and many artists, authors, and other creatives. Together, Jeff and Nina explore the US laws regulating IP, what they get right and what they get wrong, and how free market alternatives to government enforcement of IP might function.
We’ve been trying to get Nina on the show for several months, and we were finally able to connect while she was traveling. The hotel internet connection isn’t the greatest, but we decided to make it happen anyway.

In this episode, Jeff sits down with [@Ace_Archist](https://https://twitter.com/Ace_Archist) from Twitter to discuss a recent controversy about the American Civil War which directly relates to VIA’s maxim “Good ideas don’t require force.”
Many thanks to Anarcho Christian for the quote at 7:42, and to the Mises Institute for the quote at 28:34.
Regarding 20:18, I know that China isn’t the USSR, but I thought a more recent item would be interesting—to show that it’s still pertinent.
