These are created out of nothing when the banks lends, because they invent fictious customer deposits. Why?? They simply restate what is an accounts payable liability arising from the loan contract having purchased your promissary note as a customer deposit --- when no one has deposited any money. That can be positive for the economy as long as that money creation is in line with the creation of new goods and services, and implementation of new technologies, and therefore adding value to the economy, and adding value in the economy is funded by this money creation. If that happens, business investment and productive loans, you'll have no inflation, these loans can also be serviced and repaid, you have a stable economy and low inequality. But there's two more cases: if banks create credit for consumption, you suddenly have more money created and more demands for goods but the same amount of goods and services, so you have consumer price inflation. But the least understood, and biggest issue in the UK, probably more than 70% of all lending, is bank credit creation (money creation) for financial transcations, for asset transactions, for purchasing ownership rights. Then you have a problem, because you're creating new money, but you;'re not creating new goods and serviecs. You're simply giving somebody new purchasing power over existing assests. And therefore you must push up asset prices. So you can draw a chart of land prices, asset prices, property prices, and it will match unproductive lending perfectly. And that also creates the inequality. We need to look at where the money is going, if banking credit lending is extended for productive services, your're fine. You get a good economy, no inflation, and you don't have this inequality problem."
