Questioning the France-Canada Climate Deal - Who Really Benefits?
Canada signed a climate deal with France on April 16, 2018, but who does it really benefit? Canada France trade is important at about $10 billion a year; but trade with the US, according to the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, is about $628 billion a year. France has threatened the US with no EU trade deals unless the US gets back into the Paris Agreement, which President Donald Trump has abandoned. The Canada-France climate partnership engages Canada to push the Paris Agreement and carbon markets worldwide, but these policies are devastating to Canadian oil, gas, coal, mining and forestry sectors. Meanwhile, France runs on nuclear energy domestically (no-carbon footprint) and imports all the oil for its refineries, mostly from despot nations who are very unlikely to participate in any Paris GHG reduction targets or climate policies. Greenpeace specifically targeted French investments in the oil sands in their Tar Sands Campaign, and TOTAL SA pulled out many investments here and invested in natural gas in Iran. Iran is reportedly engaging in a campaign of colonialism across the Middle East. So, who benefits from this deal? France is the cornerstone of "La francophonie" - a large UN voting block with considerable influence. How can Canada fight to get our 'ethical oil' to market when we are in a climate deal like this? Since about 1,000 scientists of the CLINTEL group have declared that there is no climate emergency and, as Dr Judith Curry testified to the US Senate in 2014, carbon dioxide is not the control knob on climate, there's no need for Canada to fall for climate coercion of the Paris Agreement and no need for anyone to demarket Alberta oil. Climate doomers at #COP26 condemn the public to heat or eat poverty. UK Prime Minister opened the conference invoking the Doomsday Clock - meanwhile he and his colleagues are pushing more green energy which will condemn more of the world's population to heat or eat poverty. The UK is presently facing an energy crisis, skyrocketing power prices, a shortage of food because there is not enough produced carbon dioxide (CO2) to process certain foods - and why? Because the price of natural gas has spiked, leading fertilizer manufacturers to shut down operations (CO2 for food production is a byproduct from manufacturing of fertilizer). At the same time, to bribe developing nations to stay in the Paris Agreement, now trillions of dollars are being offered to them as climate reparations, when the previously agreed to $100 billion/yr Green Climate Fund had yet to reach its target. World leaders came together as a group, not to address the real problems facing real people, but to make even more promises they can't keep on catastrophic climate change science claims that are disputed. The Doomsday Clock belongs in the river of 40 years of failed climate catastrophe predictions - the people must not be pushed into heat or eat poverty through reliance on faulty climate models and poor public policies on climate that only benefit green cronies.

Ross McKitrick, professor of economics at the University of Guelph and co-author of “Taken by Storm,” explains that people need to speak up and question any of the climate policies proposed. McKitrick explains that the proper response is to have a discussion about what the numbers show – as opposed to having the discussion turn into name calling. He encourages people to question and discuss the pros and cons of proposed climate change policies. Otherwise you will suffer the consequences of bad climate policies.

Livestock have been grazing and turning grassy pastureland into milk and meat for humans for thousands of years. In the process, the animals fertilize the land with their pooh and pee; farmers and ranchers move them over to the next pasture and let the pastureland recover. But not climate ideologues are discontent with thousands of years of natural milk and meat production. They want an 'Anthropocene' solution - lab meat. Or "Chirp and Burp" cricket-based foods. Some researchers even naively think that wind and solar could power such lab meat factories, presumably for the 100% NetZero operation. But that's all cow patties. Some people think we only get meat, milk and leather from livestock carcasses, but in truth, the whole animal is put to best use, and some byproducts are so unique and important, they could never be produced in a lab. Agriculture has net benefits for humanity, provides excellent employment, and provides essential food and products we cannot get in any other way. Stop the NetZero Madness. Six years ago, in 2017, Robert Lyman spoke to the Friends of Science annual conference about whether Canada can survive climate policy. Since then, the number and cost of government measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions has increased, while the inability of governments to manage the transformation of the economy has become ever more evident. This year, he returns with an assessment of why seeking to completely decarbonize Canada by 2050 will face insurmountable technical, economic and political barriers.
Robert Lyman spoke at Friends of Science Society's 20th Annual Climate Science Event in Calgary, at the Red and White Club. The text of his presentation is here: https://blog.friendsofscience.org/2023/10/19/when-will-climate-policy-hit-the-wall-text-of-robert-lymans-presentation/

In light of the global energy crisis and unstable geopolitics, along with heightened eco-activist stunts, it is likely that people will face blackouts across Europe this winter, and possibly in many other places. Belgian engineer, Rob Lemeire, offered a blog post to Friends of Science to try and help people recognize that this could be a significant challenge or danger to the public, if individuals and families are not prepared with a short term emergency kit. While people often rely on their cellphones for communication, news and services, European cell providers have recently stated that if there's a major blackout, their cell tower networks would only have about 1/2 hr of power. Consequently, people should recognize that taken-for-granted communications might be lost; it might be a good idea to have a small battery powered transistor radio (or one that works on a hand crank). People who use public transit - especially electric trains - might want to have a small flashlight and maybe some snacks or a light weight emergency mylar blanket in their backpack in case the train system goes down and you're stuck for a while. At home, people should prepare for anywhere from a couple of hours to a few days of possible blackout - prepare physically and psychologically, and explain what might happen to children, without scaring them. Michelle Stirling reads Rob Lemeire's blog post here and offers some concrete tips to prepare. You can see other links at the bottom of the blog post with instructions for prepping a home emergency kid. Many of the thing you already own; you just need to organize them in a handy place and be prepared for what to do when the lights go out. Also important, DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN EARTH HOUR anymore. Michelle explains why. Here's a link to the blog post: https://blog.friendsofscience.org/2022/10/19/the-energy-crisis-what-to-do-in-the-event-of-a-blackout/

Dr. Ian Clark denounces the climate alarmism in the media and calls for a more rational review of the various forcings that change climate. These natural factors include solar activity, volcanism, ocean currents, El Nino and more. People mistakenly ascribe the impacts of natural variability to carbon dioxide from human influence; Dr. Clark thinks we need a reality check. When Premier Jason Kenney was elected, one of the first things he did was to cancel the Alberta government's 30% renewable program of the Notley NDP government. However, a recent article in the Narwhal shows that wind and solar developers continue to capitalize on other forms of subsidies at the federal level. Alberta is a breadbasket to the world - but our rich agriculture land is at risk by predatory developers from countries like Germany and Russia cashing in on subsidies, various tax credits through intricate corporate structures, and offering farmers multi-million dollar decades long contracts to put wind and solar farms on their land. We don't know if there is any restriction on land quality for such deal. The federal government foresees putting 10 times the amount of wind/solar into Alberta as part of their Net Zero plans. And on Dec. 15, 2022, the day this video was recorded, Bill C-235 received Royal Assent - "Building a Green Prairie Economy Act" - imposing so-called green ideology on the Western provinces. All these factors will have devastating effects on Alberta's economy as wind and solar drive up power prices three to nine times; and if arable land is not protected, we may lose the richest 'gold' we have - our arable land. There's no conspiracy here; these things are happening in plain sight, but the dots are not being connected and the mainstream media is not bringing these issues to the attention of Albertans.
