This is me trying Sand Mode after I played around in Auto Mode in the wash. Rain water from the city all run down into this area against the mountains. I noticed that in Sand Mode the lockers would kick in every now and then when the car felt the need for it.
We experience getting stuck and pulling cars out of the area before. Anything without 4WD or 4X4 has to be wary of stopping or slowing down in this sand.
We drove off the road and followed the wash down stream a bit, but nothing was as soft sanded as this area.

All this offroading and the windshield cracked from highway driving.
This is in Bee Canyon in the San Jacinto Mountains. I'm trying to waste the last of the camcorder's battery. Just showing off a bit of the trail.

This is a bit of the Bee Canyon Entrance when we ran into a Wrangler. There was 3 vehicles out here doing some shooting. We saw this Wrangler in town when we were filling up for the day.

This road used to be flat and smooth. You can see on the right of the screen how the rain has eaten up the road. There were several sections that have been broken off the edges. These sections also had large grooves cut into them with the rain runoffs.
There is another video of me driver up this rough section of road and my brother is guiding me and recording with his phone camera.

Out off the main road on Old Idylwild Road. This particular section of the road used to be smooth flat dirt 2 years ago. It has been really washed out and I wasn't expecting these road conditions at all.
I was worried about the capability and clearance of the Trailhawk, but decided to find out what it could do. No recovery tools and no other truck to pull me out if I get stuck.
My brother got out to guide me up this part because and decided to use his phone camera. So sorry for the shake "action" shots. Parts of the road have been washed off the edge and there was deep grooves we didn't want the tires falling into.
Definitely wish we had bigger tires and a lift. With careful tire placement we got through this. The road was getting worst as we kept following this trail, so we decided to turn around after this last bit.
Trail Rating: 8.5/10
We used Rock mode with 4WD Lock and with 4 Low on.

June 4, 2021. This was our time on the trail. Cell/GPS is weak on the trail. Anything off the main gravel road was not marked on Google Maps. All branching trails are dead ends, so backtracking out is the option. We did the trail in 2wd in dry conditions. We had no clearance issues in our trucks, but any smaller vehicle might have trouble with the potholes and ruts. Slowing down and driving around them will still get your through though. The main gravel road can be done in a Corolla. It's wide, graveled, and flat. On the side dirt trails, the road gets narrow. Since all the trails are in and out, you have to keep in mind of any turn outs. As you might need to back up to a wider section to allow oncoming vehicles pass.
Cameras: DJI Osmo Action. Mounted on the inside of the windshield. Settings: 4k 60fps, Rocksteady On, Temperature Threshold High, Color Normal , Dewarp Off. Battery was installed in the cameras, but we also have them plugged up to 12v power the entire time. Charging and recorder does heat up the cameras to the point of shut off. We ran our A/C on defrost to get air to flow to the camera.

This is to showcase the new AEM intake I got for my 2015 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk.
This is for the 2.4L Multiair petrol/gasoline engine. Not for the 1.4L Multiair Turbo or the Diesel engine.
The first 2 videos from outside the car was recorded from a cold start on a low 70s morning. So you can hear the valves ticking after the revs.
The shots from inside the car was after the car was warmed up. That and being inside of the car, you can't hear the valves tick.
I wanted to do a compare video of how the original intake box sounded vs the AEM intake, but I don't have the time to reinstall the original and then reinstall the new one. You can see my other videos and other people's videos on how the stock intake box sounds like. Keep in mind that different recording devices produce different levels of sounds.
I didn't do the install, because I received the car back from the shop with the intake on. But from looking at it, it's a pretty straight forward intake installation. The only thing I would like to note is the MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor. The original location is right before the throttle body. With the AEM intake system, they provide a extended wiring harness. This harness is plugged into the original plug that connects to the MAF Sensor. It follows the intake pipe to the intake pod filter and plugs into the MAF Sensor. The new location is at the top end of the intake pod. So the extended harness is plug and play. The top end of the intake pod filter is very thick to accommodate how far the MAF Sensor has to be pushed in. The hole in the top of the intake pod filter is also molded for a snug fit. It is not drilled. The MAF Sensor is pushed in snugly. There is a stopper on the MAF Sensor, so you can only push it in so far. There is also an O-ring on the MAF Sensor, so it's also air/water tight.
Don't mind the dirty engine bay. We drove through some mud the day after we got it back from the shop. It's been dirtier than this and will get dirtier than this. Clean up will take some extra time with the new pod filter. We usually just pressure wash the engine bay.
