John Carpenter [Sacred Bones Records] John Carpenter has been responsible for much of the horror genre’s most striking soundtrack work in the fifteen movies he’s both directed and scored. The themes that drive them can be stripped to a few coldly repeating notes, take on the electrifying thunder of a rock concert, or submerge themselves into exotic, unholy miasmas. It’s work that instantly floods his fans’ musical memory with imagery of a menacing shape stalking a babysitter, a relentless wall of ghost-filled fog, lightning-fisted kung fu fighters, or a mirror holding the gateway to hell. The son of a music professor, Carpenter attended the University of Southern California when the sounds of progressive, synthesizer-driven rock were on the horizon. It was with the minimal, iconic music of Halloween where Carpenter truly broke through as a major director - and film musician. Composers before him had used minimalism to create terror, whether it was two piano notes for a killer shark or the stabbing strings of a mother-obsessed psychopath, but it was Halloween’s brilliantly interwoven synth melodies that truly took genre scoring to a new, more sinister level. https://www.sacredbonesrecords.com/collections/john-carpenter
The Complete Horror Movies Timeline – Part 2 of 4
Horror movies are almost as old as the medium of film itself. We love them for their jump scares, but also how they reflect our deepest fears and anxieties. In short, horror resonates with us. If you're interested in reflecting on the horror genre, then let our ultimate guide to horror movies show how we got from innovative and timeless tales to modern classics like 'Let the Right One In', 'The Cabin in the Woods', and 'Us'.
Silent era horror movies laid the groundwork to craft stories and scares through atmosphere and visuals, without color, sound, or even music. (Outside of theater organs that might accompany the pictures, that is.) The horror genre evolved along with film technology, adding much to the monsters we could imagine, control of the mood through music and, of course, the sound of screams. It’s hard to imagine a horror movie without some screams!
We'll delve into some of these technological topics along with the films of celebrated directors, and the horror movies that were so innovative that they conjured new subgenres. These "firsts" brought new ideas to the cinema conversation, laying the groundwork for so many other films. As much as we'd like to add all of our favorites and guilty pleasures, we'll be sticking with firsts and other innovative horror movies, or else the list would never end!

15 Horror Porn Parodies For The Sleazy Horror Fan
Horror is known for being sleazy and we owe that to the horror films from the 70s that broke the mold by giving the viewers some boobs with their blood and gore. However, the 70s also saw the beginning of the horror porn parodies with films like Peeping Tom, The Mad Love Life of a Hot Vampire, Dracula Suck, and so on. This is something that continues to this day with companies like Burning Angel leading the charge. So many classic horror films have fell under the money shot but here is 15 of the most popular!

Clarice Starling is a top student at the FBI's training academy. Jack Crawford wants Clarice to interview Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist who is also a violent psychopath, serving life behind bars for various acts of murder and cannibalism. Crawford believes that Lecter may have insight into a case and that Starling, as an attractive young woman, may be just the bait to draw him out.

Black Christmas (1974) [Fandom]
Black Christmas (also released under the titles Silent Night, Evil Night, and Stranger in the House) is a 1974 Canadian independent horror film directed by Bob Clark and written by A. Roy Moore. It stars Olivia Hussey, Keir Dullea, Margot Kidder, Andrea Martin, Marian Waldman and John Saxon. The story follows a group of sorority sisters who are stalked and murdered over Christmas vacation by a killer hiding in their sorority house. It was inspired by the urban legend of "The Babysitter and the Man Upstairs", but was also largely based on a series of murders that took place in Quebec, Canada around Christmas time. Black Christmas is generally considered to be one of the first slasher films. A remake of the same name, produced by Clark, was released in December 2006.
