Vintage Shopping Spree! | Estate Sale & Antique Show Tour
Over the mountains and to the antique show...but wait, there's an estate sale sign! We're driving the Cascade Mountain loop en route to Spokane, Washington, but a sign diverts us to a farmstead in the middle of nowhere first. Will they have old stuff, good stuff, cheap stuff?
Turns out there's a little of both here! This is clearly an old collector estate, where RS Germany, French and English porcelains are bargain priced, Native American dancers are reasonable and buyable (but not the baskets!), the Fenton is cheap and a whole lot of other things are not. We talk about what is and isn't a good buy as we enjoy this unexpected stop!
Our real destination is Spokane, Washington's Custer's Antique Show, where Spokanites have shopped twice a year for nearly a half-century! This time we're shoppers rather than sellers, we get to tag along with some YouTube friends and visit one of their spaces (loving that Italian martini pitcher!). Nearby, a three-for-$20 booth brings us Disney, a 1970s Love placard, a Canada Dry bottle opener and a bunch of other fun stuff) that we can easily resell for triple…and then we find a 1930s Mexican tile table at a price we can’t resist!
But the real charm of this antique show is the presence of real old-time antique and vintage dealers who have amazing and beautiful things not commonly seen. A case of Moser, Kew Blas and other Art Nouveau antique glass sparkles alongside enameled spoon sets and Russian Niello cigarette boxes, while another table boasts a huge collection of scarce early 1900s Alaska studio photo prints. A Salvador Dali artist's proof, a 1930s trolling motor and a cool 1950s Buster Brown display figure exemplify why this is an antique show worth seeing!

ANTIQUE MALL TOUR UPDATE | REVIEWING MY FIRST YOUTUBE VIDEOS!
Welcome to my second Flashback Friday review and reaction video! This one features my current look back at my old (second ever!) YouTube video, which started as a live stream to my Periscope audience from a surprisingly big and fun antique mall in a very out-of-the-way Kentucky town.
Sturgis is known for its antique mall, and its Little Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. I stopped there the first day I filmed for YouTube, and a year (and many more subscribers) later, I look back and comment on what I saw then—and a few things I differently now.
The disco ball and the hat (got to put it on!) strike me the same, but I realize now how even in a year, the market and my perception of it have changed a lot! Who’d have thought that big ceramic cats would come to catch my attention? At the same time, a huge shelf of original Roseville pieces and a great sombrero sign somehow didn’t register the first time around.
While I encourage newer subscribers to enjoy my original version of this video (in my channel playlist), it’s fun for me to look at it with fresh eyes, with a variety of fresh observations and finds that eluded me the first time I filmed. I realize how great the collection of local antique and vintage ephemera connects the town to its past, and point out different objects from stacking lawyers’ bookcases to ceramic owls. This fun vintage emporium is a great place, and I hope this retake on my original broadcast gives new life to this old video about really cool old things.

Jukebox Elvis to Eleganza! | Renningers Antique Extravaganza Part 2...
We needed extra time to show you more of the big Renningers Antique Extravaganza in Mount Dora, Florida! This time we go from basin to hilltop in search of vintage shopping finds. The basin holds large items ranging from furniture and jukeboxes to a goat cart, while the hillside is where the last-minute arrivals from up north bring a massive variety of who knows what!

The base of the hill holds fun, where the first space at this outdoor show surprisingly was electrified and held jukeboxes, neon signs and a really good dental cabinet! Fiesta’s square cousin makes an appearance, with some funny naughty novelties and Mr. McCoy’s giant frog.
The hillside is its usual variety of surprises and styles, with estate and storage remnant “digger” booths juxtaposed with fine French porcelain (masquerading as American), elegant mantle clocks and handsome spool cabinets.
A tale of four furniture sellers develops, wherein I expose repurposing’s biggest mistake by showing you good and bad examples, and comparing new faked “wear” with real antique wear.
Part of the fun of being at a huge antique show is finding other things to buy, and I did! I show part two of what I bought at Renningers, so you get a haul video inside another video! Prices and merchandise costs are frequently profiled for resellers.

An acre of antiques! An unexpected detour takes me to this place I've heard about for years, but have never seen. What treasures will a gigantic mall with hundreds of antique dealers offer?
This place is so big, and there's a ton to sift through! It's almost like having two antique malls in one place, where a huge bank of showcases feature specialists with railroad china, 1950s western memorabilia, Fenton baskets, vintage toys, toothpick holders, even cheese domes. We get to explore real depth in certain collecting categories, and we find bargains right away in a case full of railroad china at half off (yes, Hall China did make spittoons for rail riders!).
The rest of the mall is given over to huge spaces with a mix of everything.. Sometimes it's great stuff, like a space full of discounted MCM furniture and wall art, or the spot with a railroad baggage cart piled high with oaken boxes and drawer sets! Sometimes it's random stuff, and we talk about the danger of mixing new stuff with old until the old all disappears. But more than anything, we spend a lot of time trying to find things in the many spaces giving discounts up to 50%, making it possible to buy everything from a Mexican Saltillo to an oversized Frankoma vase for price less than the Goodwill store!
In the end, we have a lot of fun, see a ton of stuff and understand how we will shop this store when we return to this Centerville, along Southeast Indiana's antique alley!

AN EPHEMERAL MOMENT | LOOK BACK AT EPIC FUN VINTAGE PAPER SHOW
Seattle's Epic Antiques mall hosts regular safe events, and this video shows the first of them! Shot on the quick right before it opened, this show features a single collecting category that covers a huge range of collecting categories!
Vintage paper, pinback buttons, bumper stickers, photos and books fill the 'vault' in this video, shot when Epic first opened. This last minute preview is more fun this time around, where we can isolate and mull some really great individual items...quaint Victorian childrens books to psychedelic 60's posters!
Ephemera is made only for its moment, but it triggers our memories of those moments today! TV icons, politicians, sports events, special places, vacations and all the fleeting moments of life come back to us as we peruse a lot of fun and fascinating mementos once more in this look back at a really fun single-category show with a few bargains worth buying.

MULTI-CHANNEL VINTAGE MEETUP SHOP ALONG | ANTIQUE SHOW
A year ago, we had our first meetup at my Kentucky storehouse; a year later, we have a chance to get in first at a big antique show in Princeton, Indiana! Representing four YouTube channels, us friends are so excited to shop together during early buyer hours, and we’re taking you with us!
The possibilities are endless as we watch dealers unpacking and setting up space while we shop! What will come out of the next box? Join Jeffrey and Barb of Real Nifty Vintage, Mari Beth and Laura of Fat Bird Finds, Misty and Mark of Thrifter Junker Vintage Hunter and me as we hunt for cool collectibles we can buy cheap enough to resell.
Naturally, we discover new things and talk a lot about what we see as we go through the halls and barns and tents that make this a 300 dealer extravaganza! Jadeite and Levi’s bellbottoms, Copper Luster from 1850, a scarce Monon Railroad service piece from 1950 and a pre-Prohibition Cook’s Beer keg are a few of the first things out of the boxes as dealers unpack and we look for fresh fare!
This isn’t all thrift store priced, but there’s a surprising number of things that are…we discover an estate sale liquidator unloading a fresh trailer of bargain goodies for $5/each, Misty gets back a favorite childhood toy and we all spot fun finds and good bargains throughout this major regional antique show. Collectors Carnival is aptly named!

Come in with me! We're getting the first look at this packed estate sale house, the trust attorney just gave us the keys and you're seeing it the way I'm seeing it...for the first time.
It's all here, this home in a fine St. Petersburg, Florida neighborhood is full of good stuff and we're here to organize, price, promote and sell all of it! But what all do we have?
The living room makes an auspicious start, with a pristine 1920s maple burl dining suite festooned with gracious antique porcelains and glass, a modernist candle set and a few of what prove to be many, many pieces of Portmerion China strewn throughout the house!
Strewn is the operative word...we see collectibles, art and furniture from Asia, Africa and 1940s America, some hidden under piles of books, some under boxed and unopened new household items, some under afghans and vintage blankets! Boudoir collectibles, Fenton and Scandinavian glass, Hummels and Wedgwood, old paper ephemera, Christmas gear and lovely decor items...there is just so much in here to sort, merchandise and price for resellers. (We haven't even looked in the closets of clothes with original tags still on them!)
We talk about what we see, the fun and the fanciful...what we'll do with it is the big topic of conversation. We'll be back with more video to show you what more we find, and how we transform this crowded house into a successful estate sale that will help our client, nostaglia seekers and resellers alike!

FLEA MARKET FUN! | REAL WORLD FLEA MARKET EXPERIENCE
It had been a long dry spell with so many flea markets closed, but Luke’s Town and Country comes to life in this video as we shop for vintage bargains in the middle of the week!
This is an unvarnished look at the real flea market shopping experience, where I shop as a reseller, ferreting out the cool old stuff among an array of products ranging from chickens to tube socks. I really have fun flea market shopping, and am excited to take you with me on this real world experience!
Bright orange glass, Victorian sleeve crimpers and an early Mickey Mouse toy are all to be found, showing why flea markets are such fun places to shop for variety’s sake. Whether you want to pull a team of oxen with an old wooden yoke or light your room with a modernist floral floor lamp, there’s something to grab your attention. A visit with a dealer in ephemera shows us that the passion for vintage items is present in every venue where old stuff lurks.
When the heat gets intense, it’s time to duck into the permanent sheds, each with its own flavor of collectible. One shows a vast array of advertising clocks and ephemera, while another gives a clue that Army life might not have been everyone’s cup of tea. We talk about my strategy for finding things overlooked by starting at the edges, show how to tell a bread bowl might be fake and find lots to see…and a fair amount to buy.

ANTIQUE SHOPPING with Me! | RESELLING & Collecting VINTAGE HOME DECOR
This place is so deceivingly huge! A small foyer filled with Fun Funky Finds greets us with vintage clothing, cool wall decor and displays, even a neat vintage bike as we enter Veranda Antique Mall. But beyond the front room, there's a big surprise in the form of two more rooms of antiques, Mid Century Modern furnishings, antique & vintage home decor and collectibles!
This place just seems to go on forever, and we're having a lot of fun shopping the back two chambers of this massive antique mall. Our first surprise is a fun quilt with a quirky, happy pattern, at a price we can easily flip for a profit--but it's not the only surprise. We find an MCM Lucite stool by Rialto that would sell for double in the right place, a fantastically shaped Hull butterfly vase, a Sierra 'uranium glass' 1930s green bowl with a great style...there's lots of things we can take home with us today.
Surprises are not just limited to what we're buying...from an ejection seat to a pristine MCM sofa, there's a lot of great possibilities here for antique and vintage decorators, including good industrial furniture, farmhouse style cabinets and 'farm junk', even a pristine 1930s gas stove with jadeite trim! With shelves of 1950s vintage toys, art deco glass and antique militaria, and this place be a regular stop on our swings through Missouri's I-70 antique corridor.
