Starting out using BASS Spectro, a free astronomical spectroscopy software. In this video tutorial, we will pre-process a raw stellar spectrum direct from the imaging telescope, convert it to a spectral profile, calibrate it to the correct wavelengths, correct for instrument response, and add a few visual aids to the chart.

While I was preparing my equipment for an astrophotography session at dusk, a very bright object was visible in the sky. Lucky me, I had my telescope right at my side ready to go! This is as close as possible I could capture the floating telecommunications balloon from the Google Loon program.
