How to grow apple trees from seed in a air pot. These Antonovka apple trees were grown from seed. They were cold stratified for 60 days and potted in this air pot in my greenhouse. This video shows the root system, and how easy it is to plant year round.

Part two of this video shows how to build a perlite plant propagation tote. This can be used to create new plants simply by wicking water to cuttings that are placed in there.
You need:
1. 1x Bag of lava rock
2. 2x Bags of perlite (2 cubic feet per bag).
3. Drill
Start by drilling the totes at the bottom, you can go around the entire base of the tote.
Wash the lava rock really well, I use a garbage can and mix it up / dump out the dirty water.
Fill the tote about 1' high with perlite, water and then place in your reservoir of water.

This is how to grow duckweed in your backyard. I’m using aquatic plants pots from Home Depot to grow batches of duckweed.
This provides a space that fish are unable to eat the plants. A few times a week, I’ll scoop up the plants and add them to the fish area.
The duckweed grows well in sun and grows fast.
You might be able to find some locally in a pond or steam. Otherwise you can order online.

Backyard Ducks, Ep. 12 building a secure coop.
I'm using 1/2" hardware cloth, 2x4 stud lumber for the base, 2x2 lumber for the roof. Black locust logs for the four corners, and a 8x12 Brown tarp as the roof.
I estimate the time to build at around 6-8 hours. I'll come in afterwords and dig a trench around the walls to bury objects that will prevent critters from getting in.

This is my video to show how the aquaponics system is working. It contains black lava rock and uses water to fill the upper grow bed that contains plants. The lower tank will house fish and needs to be clear of all the algae. We got cat tails from a local creek to filter the water.
We also found some elderberries down at the creek and so I took some sticks and made 12 inch cuttings and place those in the lava rock. They should have a good percentage to root and we will make new plants from those cuttings.
For some reason, the act of water raising and lowering on cuttings provides a great way to propagate plants.
Let me know if you have any questions!
