An orphaned bear cub is being cared for at Irkutsk Zoo after being spotted near the village of Maloe Goloustnoye during hunting season.
The nervous and orphaned female cub was found at the beginning of May by the zoo’s specialists and their dog while searching for migratory birds.
Footage filmed later that month showed the cub settling into its enclosure. The zoo’s director has suggested that the bear’s mother may have been shot by hunters, leaving the baby all alone and in a bad state. As the rehab for the cub continues, the zoo is now looking for a more suitable home.
