What's Touring In Japan Like? That was my question for years and years since I became a musician. I've always dreamed of coming down there and play music for their really enthusiastic fans - they really love music down there! I did realize this dream not long ago when I went on tour in Japan supporting the album release of Brazilian singer Dani Gurgel - a project I had so much pleasure and fun to be a part of (as a musician and as a composer as well). In this vlog's episode the fun begins - we leave China towards Japan with a quick stop in South Korea. Our base was in Tokyo but the tour actually kicked off at a very small beautiful nearby town - Kamakura - where a famous coffee shop owned but a Brazilian music aficionado was the stage for our 12 day Tour over that beautiful island. I really hope you enjoy this episode and I can't wait to share the rest of this journey with y'all. Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Exactly one year ago (February 10th 2020), I was devastated with the news that one of my biggest heroes - Lyle Mays - had left this world. I immediately sat down on the keyboard and this piece came out - It’s a homage to the man whose music has changed my life forever when I was 15 years old and was knocked out by the power of his art, so strong that I literally only know some of my best friends because of the shared love for his and Pat’s music. The stories of friends who met on a bus because one of them was holding a CD and listening to his music to unbelievable stories like a random Pizza Delivery guy freaking out on recognizing myself and a friend of mine from some 6, 7 years old video we randomly posted on YouTube playing some of his tunes. This is music at its best, a powerful force that connects us all with something bigger and meaningful. He was definitely one of its most powerful channels. Lyle’s music is alive and well and it will always be. Thank you for all the beauty, the push for excellence, the drive to improve and the relentless pursue to connect. Thank you for changing my life! ?? ?? #lylemays

What's a Melodic Axis? In this episode I talk about something that is also commonly called "Guide Tones", a look into how all the diatonic-jazz harmony can mostly be traced by its intervals of 3rds and 7ths, allowing us to use such intervals as a framework for voice leading the chords. You can experiment with that and realize you can pretty much only play those intervals in the progression and it will still hear how the harmony is moving. Enjoy!
