Juan is one of the Hoenn Leaders in the Pokémon World Tournament that can be battled in either the Hoenn Leaders or World Leaders Tournaments. Juan is skilled in using Water type Pokémon. Kingdra will use Rain Dance to speed up with the Swift Swim ability. Walrein will use Toxic to poison opponents and Sheer Cold for a one-hit KO. Crawdaunt will use Crabhammer and Night Slash for critical hits. Whiscash will use Spark to paralyze foes and Rest to restore HP with a Chesto Berry taking effect. Relicanth will use Rock Slide and Waterfall to make opponents flinch. Politoed will use Hypnosis to put opponents to sleep. A move like Giga Drain would be a good use for this battle.

After clearing Area 1 of the Black Tower, you’ll battle one of the boss trainers. The first of them is Abed, originally a Breeder class trainer. Unfezant will use Hypnosis to put opponents to sleep and Quick Attack for first strikes. Pawniard will use Rock Polish to speed up and Psycho Cut for critical hits. Boldore can sometimes strike first with the Quick Claw it has and use Stealth Rock to hurt those who switch out. After the battle, you’ll unlock Area 2.

Wallace can only be battled in the Champions Tournament. His team is entirely Water type. Milotic holding a Rocky Helmet will use Scald to burn opponents and Icy Wind to slow opponents down. When low on HP, it will use Rest and the Marvel Scale ability will take effect to raise its Defense. Sharpedo will use Zen Headbutt to make targets flinch and Aqua Jet to strike first. Walrein will use Yawn to put opponents to sleep and Sheer Cold for a one-hit KO. Ludicolo will use Rain Dance to make its Swift Swim ability take effect and Giga Drain to steal HP from targets. Swampert will use Muddy Water to reduce the Accuracy stat of opponents. Starmie will use Signal Beam to confuse opponents. A move like Leaf Blade would be a decent move for this matchup.

Rampardos will use Stone Edge for critical hits and Avalanche for more damage when hit the same turn. Probopass will use Stealth Rock to hurt anyone switching out, Discharge to paralyze those who have been hit, and Pain Split to steal HP from a target. Archeops holds a Life Orb for increased power but will hurt itself after landing a hit. Crustle will use Shell Smash to gain stats and SolarBeam with a Power Herb giving it immediate readiness for once. Golem holds a Choice Band to power up physical attacks but can only use one move. Relicanth will use Yawn to put opponents to sleep and Head Smash while the Rock Head ability prevents recoil damage. A move like Giga Drain will easily bring down the opponents.
