BRENDA HILLMAN, a peace activist and one of Poets & Writers magazines 50 of the Most Inspiring Authors in the World, is the author of eight books of poetry; her most recent book, Practical Water (2009) is the third part of a quartet on Earth, air, water, and fire. She has received the William Carlos Williams Prize, and Fellowships from the NEA and the Guggenheim Foundation, and she is Olivia Filippi Professor of Poetry at St. Marys College, where she teaches in the undergraduate and MFA programs.
This CALPACT Training is targeted to non-profits that have not produced fundraising events in the past. Rather, they are evaluating event alternatives based on which will generate the best return on investment while building a sustainable community of volunteers and donors.
A talk by Assistant Professor Stephanie Jones-Rogers on the ways two clauses within the Constitution—the clause to abolish the African slave trade and the fugitive slave clause— created opportunities which allowed certain women to circumvent many of the economic and legal disabilities that accompanied the denial of their full citizenship.
