Steel Force is a shoot'em up developed by Spanish company Ecogames and published by Italian company Electronic Devices (now Elettronica Video-Games). It was only released in the arcades. The story is set in the far future where many planets have been colonized and contact with aliens has been established. Interstellar trade is florishing,, but there is an increasing problem with piracy. When the headquarters of the pirates are finally discovered, two soldiers are sent in to clean up. Steel Force is top-down run-and-gun similar to Alien Syndrome and Alien Breed. You can walk into 8 directions and shoot in the direction you are facing. You can shoot your gun or a grenade. Bothhave limited supply but ammo is scattered throughout the levels. There is a power-up to increase your shot. If you die, you loose one level of your weapon upgrades. There also medpacks to refill your health and sometimes S symbols which give temporary invincibility. You have rapid fire and you can fire while moving. Each level has linear route to the exit, indicated by arrows, and a few additional rooms with bonus items. At the end of each level is a boss fight. There is a time limit to go through the level and beat the boss. If you run out of time, it is game over and you need to use a continue. Apart from single player, there is two- player coop mode.
