When overlanding, especially remote overlanding as we do here in Australia, places to replenish supplies are few and far between. Most of the time several 100s of Kilometres apart. So we carry as much supplies as we can due to the need to be completely self sufficient. This also means places to offload our garbage build up are also few and far between. With limited space available in our 4x4 s, one of the challenges in overlanding is garbage management. It is important to keep the volume as low as possible thus utilising the available storage space efficiently. In our case we also need to be mindful of conserving the limited supply of water we have on board. One of the things we do is carry disposable plates and cutlery so we don't have to wash up after each meal. Whilst this approach helps in conserving water it also means adding to the garbage volume. In this video I talk of some of the ways I manage our garbage buildup. I also talk of some amazing environmentally friendly 100% biodegradable, 100% compostable products which helps in both reducing the amount of water we use as well as keeping the garbage volumes low with minimum impact on the camping area environment.
