Good Labor Day morning, I’m still reporting on the invasion of Europe. The soon-to-be French presidential candidate, Marine Le Pen promised French voters on Saturday that if elected she will give the French people a “Frexit” vote on leaving the European Union. Le Pen’s National Front party is the only one to promise the groundbreaking vote. Le Pen spoke to a crowd of 700 people in a the small village in northeastern France: “I will do it. Yes, it is possible to change things. Look at the Brits, they chose their destiny, they chose independence. “We can again be a free, proud and independent people.” Last Wednesday, Le Pen, a 48-year-old lawyer and member of the French Parliament, backed Donald Trump in his U.S. presidential run: “What we have in common is that we're not insiders, we are not taking part in the 'system', we depend on no one and do not take our orders from any financial institutions.” Le Pen is a leading foe of illegal immigration into France and favors a: “… radical change of politics in order to drastically reduce upstream the influx of illegal immigrants towards France". She has branded France’s inability to deal with illegal immigration as a: “… state scandal [and an] increasing financial black hole for the French social security system.” She said that Hillary Clinton would bring war and hardship to the world. “I believe Hillary Clinton means war, Hillary Clinton means devastation, destabilising the world, economic choices that would be devastating for my people, geo-strategic choices that would lead to global conflicts." Le Pen advocates France leave the Euro and return to the French Franc. She also believes in a return to French monetary sovereignty and a devaluation of the French Franc which she says will make imports more expensive and therefore stimulate domestic manufacturing. This implies the French nation taking back the money power. She says that this devaluation (increasing the supply of state money into the system) will not bring about inflation and quotes French Economist Alain Cotta in this regard. Le Pen entered the French presidential race in 2012 as a relatively unknown MP but her views rocketed her popularity in the political scene so that in the first round of presidential voting on 22 April 2012 Le Pen polled nearly 18% - about 6.5 million votes – to finish third out of a field of nine. In the French system, the top 2 vote getters then go on to the second round of voting in May. Even after she left the State Department, Hillary Clinton was still emailing classified information around using her private server and private email account. According to yesterday’s New York Post: “On May 28, 2013, months after stepping down as Secretary of State, Clinton sent an email to a group of diplomats and top aides about the ‘123’ deal with the United Arab Emirates.” 123 deals are agreements under Section 123 of the United States Atomic Energy Act of 1954 which allows different nations different levels of access to their ability to reprocess their spent uranium fuel rods from their nuclear power plants into reusable nuclear material. The danger with these deals is that the reprocessed uranium is then more easily turned into weapons-grade nuclear material. That’s why these programs are carefully monitored and communications about them can be very sensitive. The Republican National Committee has obtained the email through a Freedom of Information Act request, but it was heavily redacted by the State Department because it contains so much classified information. The email is clearly marked as being a classified document and even has a declassification date on it of May 28, 2033! This “123 Deal” was a 2009 agreement between the UAE concerning their access to reprocessing in the US. The Trump campaign posted a comment yesterday that this is more proof that she can’t be trusted to handle classified information. According to Jason Miller, Trump’s senior communications advisor: “Hillary Clinton’s secret server jeopardized our national security and sensitive diplomatic efforts on more than 2,000 occasions, and shockingly, it now appears her reckless conduct continued even after leaving the State Department.” I’m still reporting from Washington.
