We take a look at an Aphex Compellor 300 that has an intermittent distortion problem on the A channel. Simple fix but not the first thing to come to mind. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NXLGadOCUY
This is an onsite repair of an Audiotronics 2500 broadcast console. The que amp does not work on most of the channels. I put this board in in 1996 or 1997 so it is not new technology.

I was given this Yaesu YC-601 digital readout used with an FT-101 transceiver because it didn't work and one of the digits is bad. There isn't much I can do about the digit due to the lack of ability to find a driver IC but I can fix the rest of it. It is interesting how this thing works. It is not a frequency counter.

Replacing the capacitors in an Aphex Compellor. This piece of equipment has been in use 24/7 for 30 years. It is part of the magic that makes radio sound good. Also I find a bad cap that tests really strange. Take a look.

I got this Tektronix 496 spectrum analyzer off Ebay and it did not work. After combing through the manual and finding the part that said the 2716 EPROM might be bad I set out to write my own. This is mostly the story of my adventures into 2716 EPROM programming hell. Not sure I like it there and don't want to go back.

Here is another older piece of radio station equipment I had to fix at work. Simple repair but it shows logic in troubleshooting. Also a little show and tell on how an AM Modulation Monitor works (or at least how they used to work in the 70s).

Here is a simple little video on replacing the screen on an older Lenovo laptop. The takeaway from this video should be just how simply laptops are put together anymore. Seriously, 12 screws and a bunch of clips is all that holds the screen in. Also see how fragile the new connectors are and what roll tape plays in holding it all together

I was asked by Andonstar to review this microscope. It has a couple of quirks. One of which is that it does not have an internal battery so to use it you have to plug it in but that isn't too big of a deal. The other odd thing is that it does not attach to a computer for video. You must record to an SD card first and transfer to the computer. So, is it worth it's $150 plus price? Watch and see.
