Will it still fly ? #3 The Wooden miniquad
This wooden mini-quad was made after the frustration of the little HobbyKing fibreglass mini-quad that I flew at the time and broke two frames. At the time I was struggling to shrink the components down to make a decent FPV platform, so the design idea was to just use regular full-sized things.
I do remember it flying quite well - but trying it now, it's literally like a bag of bricks. It's horrible ! I will now raid it for the ESCs and other bits and bobs without a second thought :)
Now I've managed to do the "easy" ones - i.e the multirotors, next up on the "Will it Fly?" series, we move to fixed wing. Where I face a bit of "well it didn't fly before, why will it now" sort of issue.

It's fun to just fly with friends, but it's also nice to make up some missions/goals to try for. This seemed like something that was fairly simple to do, but despite it being a pretty short 3km run, it really got the pulses racing !
It's a very weird sensation to feel movement from the car but experience the completely different movement of the wing. Whilst I'm use to no movement from my body and some via the goggles, this was very different.
Big thanks to Neil for the idea of these missions, and driving this leg (once he worked out the "tricky" automatic controls) ;)

When out flying my Hornet wing last week I grabbed a few exterior flybys and was amazed by how smooth the exterior footage looked Vs the turbulence I felt from the FPV point of view.
