PS2 Translucent Grey Replacement Case Installation
I recently scored a broken $8 slim ps2 from a used game store. Since I already have a nice silver one I thought I would replace the beat up black shell with a neat translucent one. But will everything go as smoothly as I hope ... (And sorry about the quality, I only realized it wasn't HD when I went to upload it) ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtUCLtI1OM0
I scored a working Super Mario Bros 25th Anniversary DSi XL with some nail polish on it and a badly scratched bottom touch screen. I attempt to replace it with a brand new one from eBay. Part teardown, part repair. I call it a repairdown!

So I think android based mp3 players have the potential to be among the best standalone audio players, offering the best flexibility/expandability/performance when compared to conventional players with much more rudimentary os's. When Pecsu reached out to show off their new model I was very keen to review it, so huge thanks for them sending one in for us to take a look at. At $80 for the upgraded P5S model, it's not a cheap player but given the spec list this should be quite capable! So lets give it the full run through and see how it performs in some real world testing!

Dreamquest reached out to me to offer their newest model, the Dreamquest Pro, for us to check out. Specwise this little square of a PC boasts an 11th gen Intel N5105 quad core 2.0GHz cpu, 16GB ram, a 512GB ssd, THREE HDMI monitor ports, room for internal expansion with a 2.5" sata drive slot, dual ethernet, and dual band wifi. The biggest question I have of these mini computers is ... can they game!?!? Let's boot this little guy up and see what it'll run! Also lets open it up to see the guts!
[Correction]: While filming I didn't know the price of the specific configuration I received, it is $239.99 as of the posting of this video.

Phinistec kindly offered to send me their new mp3 player and you know how I feel about mp3 players! This guy has some beefy specs to match its beefy build. I swear the industrial, retro futuristic design is aimed right at my demographic lol. So let's see if the Chungus of all Chungus nuggets can live up to the hype.

In this video I show off the newly printed, smaller case with a fresh paint job. I've finally assembled everything into the shell and the software is basically complete. So what's left to do ... demo some games for you guys of course! Sorry for the one handed playing while holding the camera ... the struggles of not having a tripod set up. Now to wrap everything up I just need to mount a fan, bigger heatsink, and some small software tweaks to get better performance/functionality.

To start off, thanks to JLCPCB for sponsoring this video as well as providing pcbs to get the ball rolling on this project. JLCPCB Prototype for $2 (Any Color): https://jlcpcb.com
Additionally I'd like to thank Alfa Zeta once again for donating the electromechanical displays used in this project as well as their support of this project. Check them out: www.flipdots.com
So the journey of this project that started sometime in October of 2018 is finally at an end as I am wrapping up the final few loose ends. I am happy to present the first complete project for my channel of 2019! In this video I assemble the main wifi control pcbs I've designed and received from JLCPCB. I've written the firmware for the onboard ESP8266 to grab my youtube sub count and also communicate with the DS1302 real time clock over SPI. There are two modes that can be switched between to display my sub count or the current time. I explain the construction of how the boards go together and demo how to use the clock. I still need to stress test the software to see if there are any hidden bugs but so far it looks like everything is good to call it finished.
For more technical info check out my Hackaday.io project page here: https://hackaday.io/project/162065-serially-controlled-2-digit-flip-7-segment-module. I'll upload all project files in the next few weeks so feel free to make your own or modify for your own projects (I would appreciate a shoutout or attribution if you do so!).

Finished all repairs on the beautiful WM-3 I received but there was one thing missing that I left off fixing in the last video. As is common on these old units the small plastic battery catch was missing on my walkman and a quick search online did not yield any available replacement parts or models to print my own so in this video I go about making and 3D printing my own. This part will work for both the WM-3 as well as the legendary TPS-L2. Files and more info can be found here on Thingiverse:
