How Long To Learn To Speak The English Language?
So how long does it take to learn to speak English? Learning to speak the English language is going to be a marathon, not a Sprint. Here at Adept English we help you get a great time for your marathon, but we cannot change the race into a sprint. Even when our brains were at peak language learning efficiency as very small children. Where our focus was totally on learning language and interacting with our parents, we still took many months to speak our first words.
Learning a language takes time. Children are often quicker at learning to listen, comprehend and speak, while adults are faster at picking up reading and writing. A child fully emersed in a new language might be fluent in speaking the language in 6 months, with a narrow vocabulary. An adult might take 2 or 3 times as long to reach the same proficiency.
Adept English is here to help with FREE English lessons and language courses that are unique, modern and deliver results. You can learn to speak English quickly using our specialised brain training. Basics Of Grammar In English The Able Suffix
We start 2021 with an English lesson that takes us back to the basics of English grammar. We’ve had some fun over the holidays with fairly easy listening English podcasts and we need to pick up the pace and get our brains back up to speed as we head back to work, school and or college.
This podcast came about when someone showed me an amusing meme on Pinterest. Although I’m not that fond of the word doableit is perfectly valid English and it made me think about the mechanics of English. As always, I like to keep our English lessons contemporary using Everyday language, you would expect to here in a conversation in the UK today.

Learn English 169 Podcast 100 Years Of English practice
A free learn English quickly podcast lesson from Adept English released weekly EVERY Monday and Thursday
This weeks short English practice podcast lesson talks about a centenarian (someone who has lived for 100 years, a century). Just imagine all the English practice this person has had throughout their lives. English language is changing all the time and when this person was born in 1918 the first world war was just ending. The English used in 1918 is so different to that in use around Britain today even native British English speakers must learn new phrases and vocabulary to keep up.
This podcast lesson also talks about the English language used for percentages and fractions. You might ask why would I ever need to learn English fractions? If you asked what the time is in the UK today almost, everyone would use a fraction to tell you the time. Half past 10, a quarter to 11, etc. Percentages are important too, nearly all the shops will show price discounts as percentages and someone might say “Wow I got 50% off my shopping today”.
So a fascinating English practice podcast talking about being a 100 years old and what that means for you in the UK. The English language you would use when talking about fractions and percentages.

English Listening Practice - A Rant Or An Opinion? ✔ Lesson transcript: https://adeptenglish.com/lessons/english-listening-practice-8/
Today’s English listening practice is a conversation that you get to decide if the content is a rant or an opinion piece. We explain what the difference between these two different ways of communicating a point of view are. Along the way, we also talk about a recent phenomenon brought about by businesses and government services moving to online and telephone because of the pandemic.
A phenomenon is something that can be seen or experienced that is unusual or interesting. So today we talk about one of the side effects that has happened as many of the UK’s businesses have adapted to online life and the necessity to use phones to get things done where we used to talk to people face to face.
Most things in the UK are returning to normal following some pretty strict lock-down rules. You would imagine that shops and places of business would be re-opening their physical offices and shops. But many businesses who were forced to move online or move much of their customer interaction to telephone and online are not re-opening their physical shops or places of business.
They have actually saved a lot of money. The move online means they don’t have to pay as much rent or business rates and they need less staff. As a result, some businesses, like household goods, are experiencing a big increase online sales and store sales are decreasing. I think we can all expect to have to deal with the issues raised in today’s English listening podcast more often.

English Speaking Topics - Don't Beat Yourself Up ✔ Lesson transcript: https://adeptenglish.com/lessons/english-speaking-topics-5/
If you are learning a new language it’s normal to think, hmm I’ve been doing this for weeks or months, how am I doing? Is this where everyone gets to when they put in this much time and effort in? So today in this English language podcast we pick an English-speaking topic that will help us understand what your expectations should be in terms of English listening comprehension vs your ability to speak English.
I’ve recently seen several comments and received a few emails asking where the transcripts for these lessons are. Well, the quick answer is on our website here, or built into the YouTube videos as closed captions here. Basically, we provide a free transcript as a PDF document which you can download and as a web page article with every episode. If you are struggling with understanding some words, you hear in our podcast, you can grab the transcript and google or use a dictionary to lookup anything you don’t understand.
If you are a regular listener, you know that I often use children as an example of how we gain languages. Today is no exception. Adult language learners have a habit of setting unrealistic expectations and then they judge themselves harshly when they cannot meet goals and objectives. This can happen even when our intentions are good.
You can learn many things from children. How much patience you have, for instance.
⭐ Franklin P. Jones
So in today’s English speaking topic we will cover what is typical, in percentage terms, of where your English listening comprehension should be verses your English-speaking ability.

English Listening Practice
If you have been listening to our English listening practice podcasts for a while, you will often hear me complain about the illogical rules the English language uses. It is a source of frustration for many new English language learners. And I share that frustration.
Well, today I’m going to turn that view of the English language on its head and take the opposite view. Hopefully, this will show you that just like any other language, English has its straightforward parts and its hard parts to learn.

Conversations In English That Keep You Engaged
Today’s English lesson is simple. All we ask is that you sit back and enjoy a short English listening practice story. You will listen to a conversation in English and try to comprehend all the key vocabulary used, and at the end we have short test so you can test how well you did (and check you paid attention).
We like to use stories as a learning tool at Adept English as we know that all humans are hard wired to pay attention to stories . Historically, especially pre books, humans needed stories just to survive. Stories enabled those who lived longest to tell their tale to pass valuable survival information on to new generations of listeners. This basic mechanism still exists in all of us today, it’s a survival instinct.

Getting Uber Driver Motivated To Learn The English Language

It’s an age-old question that has faced many students and employers all over the world. What is the "best" way to learn English, or any other foreign language, as a second language? As an English teacher who teaches 100’s of thousands of students English as a second language, I want to share with you my insights on what makes learning English more successful.
To learn a new language, you need to keep yourself motivated and immerse yourself in the new language. Thinking you will learn a new language sitting in a classroom is a mistake. It’s just not going to happen. You have to do more than classroom work to succeed. You also need to "want" to do more.
Fitting language learning time into your normal life is a challenge. You need to ask yourself, "Can I find a way to learn outside of classrooms that fits with my lifestyle? How can I spend as much time as possible learning English?" We think Adept English delivers English learning materials in a way that fixes the how do I learn outside of the classroom for most language learners.
Getting Good at speaking English fluently is all about using your time more efficiently, and also about gaining access to more useful listening materials and improving the quality of your studying. This English podcast lesson will help you focus on where you can get better and how to learn English (or any language) and actually get better at it. We have a free English course called the "7 Rules To Adept English" that can help you, which you can subscribe to here.
No matter why you are looking to learn English, or any language, you will need to decide to make the change and simply start. I’ve met many people who talk about wanting to learn a language but never seem to make the effort. Making the effort is the first step.
Learning a foreign language is one of the most incredible things you can do to alter your life. It will open up new opportunities, improve your outlook on the world, and you will have fun. The benefits are vast, but you have to actually want to do it.

The best way to learn to speak English is through listening to English speakers, English comprehension, and more English listening practice. Today, we look at the problems with traditional language classes, and why learning a new language is not what it should be. Most language learning programs are so old-fashioned they should wear top hats and carry walking sticks. Our approach to language learning is a much better way.
Make The Transition To Actually Being Able To Speak English With Listening Practice ✔Lesson transcript: https://adeptenglish.com/lessons/english-listening-practice-how-to-speak-english/
Learning to speaking English is not nearly as easy as it should be. The way most people currently learn English as a foreign language is essentially you listen to a teacher talking, then practice using what you’ve learnt in a classroom environment. The problem with this approach is that it’s very slow, and limited - going to a class once a week for few hours can only help you improve so much. Most language students won’t learn to speak English at all, let alone fluently, using this approach.
What if there was a better way? What if you could learn from real life conversations where you don’t have to concentrate on speaking, but can just listen and learn? English as a second language doesn’t have to be slow and difficult. Imagine if instead of learning a new language from the teacher lecturing at the front of your classroom, you could learn, all day long, from listening to native speakers who talk naturally and freely about their own lives.
We teach people how to improve their conversational English listening and speaking, through listening to native English speakers. It’s the best and fastest way of learning to speaking English. Our way of learning to speak a new language is popular and gets results. We help you with listening and comprehension with high quality, free English lessons. Lots and lots of repeated listening is the most important skill when you want to speak a new language and we give you everything you need.
Be sure to subscribe to our Podcast for learning English through listening. Adept English Podcast will help you understand what are the most important listening skills you need to succeed in English that are not taught in traditional language classrooms.
