The murder trial is now underway for a retired Westfield police officer, Brian Fanion, who is accused of shooting and his wife, Amy Fanion, in May 2018. At the time, Fanion was a detective with the Westfield Police Department. Prosecution said Brian Fanion shot his wife back in 2018. However, his defense argues his wife DID IT HERSELF. The prosecution said Brian, an on-duty Westfield police officer at the time of her killing, who was the one who pulled the trigger. “On May 8, 2018, the defendant, Brian Fanion, shot his wife, Amy Fanion,” said Mary Sandstrom, Hampden Assistant District Attorney. However, Defense Attorney Jeffrey Brown said Amy did it and Brian did not have it in him. “He could never shoot his wife of 30 plus years,” noted Attorney Brown. “He could never shoot the mother of his children. He could never shoot a daughter, sister, and pillar of the Hanson family.” Assistant District Attorney Mary Blank said the forensic evidence does not support the theory that Amy shot herself.
