A Hardware Thing | Dell Latitude E6440 Caddy Storage
A short video to extol the benefits of the Dell Latitude E6440's storage capabilities. Specifically the media bay where a hard drive (or solid state drive) can be inserted for additional storage that isn't hanging off the side of the computer.
I realize this computer has been out of production for three years but as of 2019 today, there isn't a similar capable machine on the market with as small of a package that is this extensible.
Finished performing updates on Solus and rebooted the computer (vm).
The discussion is happening very soon, Saturday 8pm Eastern

On a trip into Menard's, the devious merchandisers placed this near the entrance and they got me. I think it might be worth $7 but the jury is still out. Let's see if it lasts me the week.

Getting a new piece of hardware is loads of fun, mostly because I get to see how well openSUSE runs on it. This Fujitsu Lifebook is a fantastic little device that has already been a great enhancement to my ensemble of devices. I hope for many years of reliability out of this.

The SteamDeck, when launched, didn't have a protective shell or docking station when it launched. The good news is, JSAUX stepped up and made some things, not perfect but pretty darn great.

The Project Killswitch Travel Case, It cost me a total $74.90. The packaging is fantastic and well thought out. Just by looking at the humor baked into the packaging there is obviously a lot of character at the core of the company.

Racing Destruction Set is a game released by Electronic Arts in 1985. It is a car and motocross racing game developed for the Commodore 64, and later released on the Atari 8-bit. At the time, this game was known for its innovative track editor and vehicle choice and customization. It was Electronic Arts' third best-selling Commodore game as of late 1987. It received much critical praise, including that from Zzap!64 magazine that gave it a "Sizzler" rating of 95%. In the years following, its release, it saw numerous remakes and copycats.

Last fall (2018) I broke my "new" sledge hammer. I had maybe gotten all of 3 months of use out of it and snapped the wooden handle right below the business end. After much consternation, I picked up a fiberglass handle instead of a wooden one mostly due to the feel and finish of the handle.
I started out by removing the remnants of the old handle out of the the sledge as to get it ready for the new handle. This was a more aggravating process than anticipated. Lots of drilling, chiseling and hammering to free the steel from the splintered wood.
Outside of working and playing in Linux, I have always enjoyed working with my hands on projects. Sometimes, my fingers need a break from the keyboard and I need to break or fix something.
This is my folly and success in fixing a sledge hammer. The installation of the handle was academically not a complicated process but the execution did have its challenges.
I am trying to learn Kdenlive in hopes that I can become effective with the software. This is a cobbling together, learning to edit video through the various features. It's been enjoyable and this is my cobbled together result.

TheC64 is an ARM based, re-implementation of the Commodore 64 in it’s approximate original package to include a full-sized, working, keyboard but instead of the original ports, it is adorned with HDMI, and USB ports. The power switch is not the toggle switch that cuts the power but rather a push-button soft witch with additional functionality.
Since its underpinnings are Linux, there is a kind of non-destructive "modification" you can do to take advantage of some of the Linux goodness that supports this device.
