An explanation of how we can solve any triangle by calculating trigonometric ratios for angles up to 180 degrees. We discuss the Law of Sines and how we can use it to solve a triangle if we're given the angle measures and any side lengths, or two side lengths and a non-included angle measure. Using the cross products property to find a side length, or using the inverse sine function to find an angle measure. How the Law of Sines can be derived from the formula for the area of a triangle. Why the trig ratios of some angles are negative.
We count the number in all and count the number that is taken apart from the number in all. Then we count the number of how many are left in a 10 frame. We introduce minus.

A function is a set of ordered pairs in which each value of the first component x corresponds to exactly one value of the second component y. The value that is put into a function is the input. The result is the output. A mapping diagram, sometimes called an arrow diagram, can be used to represent a relationship between input values and output values. A mapping diagram represents a function if each input value is paired with only one output value. We see several examples of a function and not a function. We know if it's a function when each input value only sends one arrow to an output value.

We can find a fractional part of a group by using the denominator to find how many equal groups to make from the whole number. Then we can use the numerator to find how many equal groups to count. We can count the number of items in those groups that we circled. Because fractions describe equal parts, it's important that we divide our counters into groups that have the same number. The groups must be equal-sized. We show how equivalent fractions of a group will represent the same amount. We find which multiplication problem matches the model given. We solve two word problems that involve finding a fractional part of a group.

We can break apart a figure to find the area, by breaking it into two or more rectangles. We find the area of those smaller rectangles, then add their areas together to get a total area of the original figure. We can use the Distributive Property to break apart an array. It may be easier for us to break apart a figure into sizes that will be easier to multiply their length times their width. We can break apart a figure into any size rectangles. We solve two word problems involving the area of combined rectangles.

An explanation of the notation used to label a circle, interior and the exterior of a circle, an introduction to lines and segments that intersect circles as a chord, secant, or tangent (and the point of tangency). We discuss how a secant can contain a chord, how a chord can be a diameter or two radii.

We learned in video 3.2 that multiplication is related to addition and how we can use repeated addition to find a product. We discuss how division is related to subtraction. We use repeated subtraction to find a quotient. The quotient will be the number of times we had to subtract until we got to zero. We use repeated subtraction to solve a division word problem. We do repeated subtraction on a number line to find a quotient. We write a division equation that will fit given repeated subtraction. We solve a two-step division word problem which involves subtraction and equal groups.
