***"Garbage"*** is an American rock band formed in 1993 in Madison, Wisconsin. The band's lineup - consisting of Scottish singer and musician ***[Shirley Manson](https://cutt.ly/1bBcrip)*** (vocals) and American musicians ***[Duke Erikson](https://cutt.ly/gbBcyPD)*** (guitar, bass, keyboards), ***[Steve Marker](https://cutt.ly/FbBcoiN)*** (guitar, keyboards), and ***[Butch Vig](https://cutt.ly/NbBxPnj)*** (drums, production) - has remained unchanged since its inception. All four members are involved in songwriting and production.
A native of Viroqua, Wisconsin, Vig learned to play piano as a child and drums as a teenager. After leaving college, he met future bandmate Erikson in the band ***"[Spooner](https://cutt.ly/NbBxPnj)"***.
But the ***"Garbage"*** become ***"Garbage"*** when band's door opens for Manson, who kicked off her music career at a young age, joining rock band ***"[Goodbye Mr. MacKenzie](https://cutt.ly/YbBcc7E)"***, and alt-rock foursome ***"[Angelfish](https://cutt.ly/2bBcQTI)"***. After a couple auditions, she formally joined ***"Garbage"*** as their lead singer in August 1994.
Although it was released halfway through the first decade of the 21st century, ***BLM*** belongs to the midpoint of the last decade of the 20th century, sounding like a virtual Cliff Notes of the sounds, themes, and styles of the post-grunge '90s.
Since the band's drummer and chief sonic architect, Butch Vig, helped create that sound with the albums he produced for ***”Nirvana”***, the ***”Smashing Pumpkins”***, ***“Sonic Youth”***, and ***“L7”***, that's not a surprise, nor is it necessarily a disappointment.
It's an enjoyable record, but it's hard to escape the nagging feeling that Garbage has painted itself into a corner: they haven't found a way to expand their sound, to make it richer or mature - they can only deliver more of the same. While they may be able to do this well, it is nevertheless more of the same. (***[Stephen Thomas Erlewine](https://cutt.ly/fbNp6Cm)***, ***"AllMusic"***)
***“Bleed Like Me”*** is the fifth song on Garbage fourth studio album ***"[Bleed Like Me](https://cutt.ly/Rb1kcPX)"***, released worldwide on April 11, 2005, through ***"Warner Music"***, ***"A&E Records"*** and ***"Geffen Records"***.

# ***"La Sera" Biography***
***“La Sera”*** began as the dreamy pop songwriting vehicle for ***[Brooklyn](https://cutt.ly/cWwPjIO)*** bassist ***[Katy Goodman](https://cutt.ly/kWwOM5H) (Kickball Katy)***, also known as a member of noise pop band ***“[Vivian Girls](https://cutt.ly/qWwPvpX)”***, then shifted styles from *punk* to *alt-country* as she progressed.
After she sent initial demos to good friend, filmmaker, and music producer ***Brady Hall***, who fell for the charming, ethereal vocals and '50s pop influences that ***Goodman*** exudes; he re-recorded material at his home studios in ***Seattle***, and the outfit signed to ***“[Hardly Art Records](https://cutt.ly/UWwP5fM)”*** in 2010, and subsequently released the ***"[Never Come Around](https://cutt.ly/NWwWroi)"***.
Their songs touched on an array of emotions, with heartbreak, love, and death all covered in each song with three minutes of dreamy guitar and reverb-washed harmonies.
> For her second album ***“Sees the Light”***, released by ***“[Hardly Art](https://cutt.ly/UWwP5fM)”*** in the spring of 2012. ***Goodman*** enlisted ***Rob Barbato*** (***“[Darker My Love](https://cutt.ly/yWwHcmH)”***) to play guitar and produce, and ***Dan Allaire*** (***“[Brian Jonestown Massacre](https://cutt.ly/UWwHjfb)”***) to drum, while she played bass. ***[Tim Presley](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Presley)*** (***“White Fence and Darker My Love”***) and ***Tony Bevilaqua*** (***“[Spinnerette](https://cutt.ly/pWeumzk)”***) also helped out.
> In 2012, ***Todd Wisenbaker*** joined the band, which at that time also included ***[Nate Lotz](https://cutt.ly/pWwJJYv)*** on drums and ***[Greta Morgan](https://cutt.ly/2WwJ1oD)*** on rhythm guitar.
>
>On ***“Sees the Light”***, ***Goodman*** takes a larger role, writing the music and playing bass as well as singing. She's helped out ***Barbato*** on guitar and production, and together they go for a sound that is less reverby and less early pop, more spunky and more punky.
> Her voice is brought up higher in the mix throughout and she proves herself to be a capable vocalist, belting it out when she needs to (like on the heart-tugger ***"[Drive On](https://cutt.ly/1WwW6rp)"***), but mostly crooning sweetly and clearly.
>
> In almost every way, the album is an impressive leap forward for ***Goodman*** that shows she's more than ready to make ***“La Sera”*** her full-time musical outlet.
>
> So, it was not a big surprise when In early 2014, the ***“Vivian Girls”*** went their separate ways, leaving ***Goodman*** free to concentrate on her new band.
