Hi there! This needle felting tutorial is an easy/beginner level felting project. It makes a cute little felted bunny. I use sheep's wool for the core and then cover it with Suri alpaca roving. Enjoy ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpnGLAtSaHQ
I shear all of my Suri alpacas by hand with lots of love and respect. Tiffany is one of our Suri alpacas in my herd :) I was able to get really good hand shearing angles on this one- so this is a great one to watch first. She ended up being really cooperative and I was able to finish most of her body except the upper neck part!

I have taken a traditional shearing training course and have shorn with electric shearers and ground restraints. I have also used a rotating table. My alpacas tolerated this as we talked them through everything and did it as gently as we could. But there were many drawbacks. This method requires 3 adults familiar with working with alpacas and it can be dangerous if the alpacas are stressed out. It's also very hard on your back... I needed an easier better way to shear my beloved alpacas myself :)
I prefer hand shearing with them standing as I can do this by myself and do this very gently. I greatly enjoy the time I spend with them as I shear. You can watch how I work with different alpacas as their personalities differ and also what they tolerate.
I'd love for more people to know that alpacas can be shorn in this gentle manner- although it does take patience, time and effort to develop trust with the animals. Please like this video to help more people see this and share it with other animal lovers and fiber artists if you feel this way, too. Thank you!

This is a casual video on felting Suri alpaca fiber into a lovely cowboy hat. I start with 4 ounces of Suri alpaca roving and show you the wet felting process which takes about 4 hours (shortened to 15 minutes here). Then I show you how I finish this hat with a hat band, wire in the brim, and hat stiffener. The finishing takes another 1-2 hours but is recorded in 7 minutes. I am working on a supply list and more info on the resist pattern. Updates will be at www.WisteriaSuriRanch.com. Hope you find it helpful. Enjoy!

Our baby alpaca was born on the first day of spring! His mom is a beautiful Suri alpaca named Snowflake. Baby alpacas are so adorable and fun to watch- I get absolutely nothing done :) Enjoy!
I am working on more baby alpaca videos, so if you are interested, please subscribe and enjoy them. They give me such joy and I love sharing them with you.

Learn how to make a needle felted fox with my step by step video tutorial. Gather your materials and join me :) This fox is for all levels including beginners with patience. Each part is easy to create but this one does have more parts than my sleepy dog and bear tutorials. The fox will take about 1.5-3 hours to complete depending on your experience. This video is done mostly in real time- with maybe about 10 minutes taken out.

Kiara was actually way better than expected and way way better than any previous years of shearing! So happy I didn't get a ton of spit all over myself.
