This is our fist official video in our new series East Texas Homestead Vlog. We want to bring you more homesteading content and the best way for us to do that is in a vlog format.
We are going to a new production schedule. We will be posting our standard homesteading videos on Tuesdays and an East Texas Homestead Vlog on Fridays.
In this Episode of East Texas Homestead Vlog:
Every evening when Eric gets home from work, assuming its a nice day, the boys want to go straight outside. Many times they're already out there when he drives up. None the less, outside they go.
The boy's favorite thing to do on the homestead these days is to ride their bikes down the driveway. It's about 1/3 of a mile long, winding through the piney woods of East Texas.
There's always a lot to look at and treasures to find. It wouldn't be a trip down the driveway if "Dude" didn't flip over his handlebars.
After a long day, this is the kind of thing that really helps center you on what really matters.

This homestead family vlog was a lot of fun. Instead of shooting it from just Eric's perspective, everyone bus squirt got a camera to hold.
It was a lot of work to edit and sort through all the footage but we really like the final product.

In this video, I'm building a raised garden bed with wood sides. To take this raised bed project up a notch, I'm going to cut down a pine tree on my homestead and mill the wood garden bed sides from that tree.
I'm milling the tree with the Granberg Alaskan Chainsaw Mill.
DIY Raised garden bed videos are all over YouTube, but this will be unlike any "how to build a raised bed" video you've seen.
Are you building a raised garden bed? Let me know about it in the comments section below. Better yet, drop in a link to your garden bed construction video along with your comment.
If you're ready, head on over to the next video:
Building Raised Bed Part 2

Building Raised Bed Part 3
➜ https://youtu.be/SvieLkie9w8?list=PLpbWeFH8xI3dvN6VoQn_oyLxk84NzQaz-
I'd love to show the entire process of building the raised garden bed in one video but it will probably be a three-part series.

Welcome to the first video in our series, 'The Sabbath Misunderstood.' Today, we're diving into Dr. John MacArthur's teachings on the Sabbath, specifically his assertion that Jesus violated this holy day. Hey, Y'all, today I'm going to show you one of my new favorite baby food items. It's the WeeSprout Double Zipper Reusable Food Pouch. Specifically, I'm going to be reviewing the 3.4 fl oz version.
I've been using these reusable baby food pouches for a few weeks now and absolutely love them. I've used them every day and they make life so much easier.
The reusable food pouches are dishwasher safe, microwaveable, and freezer safe.
We use the squeeze pouches for both homemade baby food and store-bought baby food. As long as it can be sucked through the small opening it can be used.
The WeeSprout Reusable Food Pouches come in 3 different sizes.

Comfrey (Symphytum officinale), is probably my favorite plant on our homestead. Comfrey can be used for so many things. I'm not going to talk about that in this video though. I want to show you why farmers hate comfrey so much. At least when it gets in their fields.
Comfrey propagates quite well from roots. If even a tiny root is left in the ground, Symphytum officinale or any of the other comfrey variants will find a way to turn into a new plant.
In a previous video, I showed you the process of digging up a comfrey plant and turning it into over 50 cuttings. This is a follow-up video showing where I replanted the original comfrey plant. Notice that all around the original comfrey plant there are new plants emerging. They are coming back from the roots left deep in the soil.

Video Transcript:
"Hey, guys. So I wanted to show you why farmers hate comfrey.
This is the comfrey bed that we pulled that last big ole plant out of right here and after pulling it out we got probably 50 plants off of it. Look right here. All the way around it. You can see... excuse the noise in the background. We've got a lot of fun cars going on. But umm.. All the way around the plant you can see where I cut it with the shovel and the roots were going out. It actually started sending up new plants there.
So, if you can imagine a farmer going through a field and hitting one of these things [comfrey plant] and disking it into thousands of new plants, it would just be unbelievable and you would never eradicate it. Look at this.
Look at this. This is unbelievable. check out that. That's one of the cuttings that I left behind right there. It's barely in the ground with that little root and it's sending up a plant. that is crazy. so that will kind of give you the idea as to why you never plant comfrey anywhere you don't want to have it forever."
