An early morning hike up the Malvern Hills in Worcestershire for some foggy Landscape Photography at sunrise. Join me as I photograph Worcestershire's iconic hill landscape with Andrew Maguire Photography and Jade Edwards on a foggy Sunday morning in Malvern, Worcestershire.
With recent warm weather in Worcestershire it was an easy decision to make, getting up at 3am on a Sunday morning was a lot harder. Meeting up with the talented Andrew Maguire and Jade Edwards, we set about photographing the landscape as seen from on top of the Malvern Hills

What are the challenges of landscape photography?
In this video I'm faced with the following photography challenges in the Snowdonia National Park ..
Unpredictable Weather. ...
Short Windows of Time for the Best Light. ...
Capturing an image
Finding compositions to Photograph. ...
Creating Interesting Photos at a popular location. ...
Patience.
Join me as enjoy an overnight stay at the picturesque Lynnau Mymbry lakes in the Dyffryn Mymbyr valley area of the Snowdonia National Park. The beautiful Llynnau Mymbyr, set amongst Snowdonia's highest peaks, are also known as the Capel Curig Lakes and are around 3/4 mile long, with a depth of 30 was to be my home for the evening of Moon and Star Photography and hopefully a glorious sunrise catching the peaks of Snowdon.
Unfortunately the weather gods had too kind and provided a wall to wall blanket of thick swirling mist and fog that enveloped the lakes from my arrival at 01:00 until around 07:30 the following morning.
Not to let the opportunity go to waste I set about taking my chances and with the occasional break in the weather capturing some low light and night time images in the challenging conditions.
As the early hour progressed to the first light of the morning, I was eventually presented with the image I was hoping for, a view from Llynnau Mymbyr, with the Snowdon Massif peering out from the heavens. Patience had paid off an out of a very difficult landscape shoot I managed to produce a couple of images I'm very pleased with.
I would love to hear your thoughts on my little adventure and the images produced, so why not leave a comment, like and subscribe

It's autumn here in the UK and it's time to do some woodland fungi macro photography with the Pentax K1 and 100mm Macro Lens. Autumn is a great time to photograph fungi and mushrooms in your local woodland as the warm days and cold nights with damp weather is the perfect conditions for fungi and mushrooms to grow on the woodland floor.
I was really keen to use the Autumn weather and the changing of the season to produce some fantasy inspired woodland macro mushroom fungi photography as part of the Pentax Youtube Photo Challenge as issued by @Lee Iveson

In this video I also explain how to do aperture stacking of close up subjects which is my prefered method vs Focus stacking, which is especially useful if you have focus breathing lenses like I do.

In this video I visit Titterstone Clee Hill in Shropshire to photograph a sunset dipping over the majestic landscape that borders Wales to the west and the English counties of Cheshire to the north, Staffordshire to the east, Worcestershire to the southeast, and Herefordshire to the south.
The plan was simple photograph and capture the late evening sunset colours in the clouds as the setting sun dipped below the horizon, which would hopefully set the sky a wash of oranges, pinks and purples. Once again my trusty Pentax K1 camera was matched with the Samyang 24 mm F1.4 and the diminutive Pentax Smc - DA 35 mm F2.4 AL (which is fast becoming one of my favourite lenses)
If that wasn't enough I also wanted to make best use of my time on top of the hill to photograph the landscape and radomes in the blue hour; an opportunity to photograph the early evening landscape, in the cool blues using the DJI Mavic Air 2 drone to do some aerial photography, revealing details and textures that easily go amiss when from standard perspective.
Waiting around for a few hours more I then planned on filming myself photographing the night sky and milky way, by doing some astrophotography over the tops of the National Air Traffic Services (NATS) radomes using my Pentax K1 and duo of lenses, the Samyang 24 mm F1.4 and the Pentax Smc - DA 35 mm F2.4 AL . However producing the video content for this was a challenge and the absence of light made it impossible to really show you how I had my scene composed and my camera setup. So unfortunately the video and story telling was limited in this part, but still, the resulting images taken on the night once I got home and processed them, produced some very pleasing wide field landscape astrophotography photographs. I hope you like them as much as I do.
The photographic opportunities and views from the top of Clee hill and the wider area of outstanding natural beauty are some of the best in the Midlands and the area is quite often overlooked by photographers in favour in my iconic locations, its hilly landscapes makes for some fabolous landscape photography from the early mists of Autumn to the snow drifts of Winter to the breathtaking sunrises of Spring and Summer and landscape photographers dream.
The hills that make up the landscape and the remoteness away from light-polluted cities means the skies above are amazingly dark. Views of the Milky Way from this region are fabulous on Moonless nights. There are also a number of publicly accessible Dark Sky Discovery Sites so camera like the Pentax K1 with it astro tracer functionality or for users of the popular Move Shoot Move systems are spoilt for choice for wide angle astrophotography landscapes.

DJI AIr2S Drone Landscape Photography of Clun Castle
This video see me traveling overnight from my home in Worcestershire out to the wilds of Shropshire on the Welsh border at Clun Castle. The plan was to capture sunrise and some mist rising up and around the castle ruins as that was forecast, however these things seldom go to plan, and when we arrived we were greeted by a thick layer of snow and a very sublime blue hour.
I was a I was a little disappointed by limited compositions on the ground so I took to the air with my DJI Air2s Drone, to do some aerial landscape drone photography this presented a whole new world of imagery to be captured.

The summer months are fading fast and Autumn feels as though its just around the corner, with this, the farmers have started the harvesting of the Hay and leaving the hay bales out in the field ready for collection.
Forgetting to photograph this each and every year I made a concerted effort not to this summer and made my way out in to the hay fields of Worcestershire to capture this seasonal activity.
With each passing day of the week just gone the fields containing the hay bales had begun to disappear as the farmers had started their collections. Working full time only provided an opportunity to shoot straight after work on my way home. I had identified several fields at the start of the week that would be suitable for a spot of hay bale photography, but by the time I actually managed to get out with the camera I was left with just one field remaining.
Sensing that time was not on my side I chanced my luck with the weather and the farmers in order to photograph the curious bales of hay dotted throughout the fields near to my home in Worcestershire. The light was poor and the weather although promising to start earlier in the day had turned into a dark and overcast evening.
Although my first attempt didn't quite go to plan a revisit the following day allowed me to capture the hay bales with the light of a warm summer sunset. The compositions were made even more interesting with the backdrop of Dunstall Castle set off in the distance.
So why round bales? Round bales are also easier to feed out, you can just roll them along and the hay unravels. ... The reason they are in empty fields is that because of their good keeping qualities, you can bale them up and then just leave them where the baler spat them out until you need them - so reduces handling and storage.

Hiking to the top of Bredon Hill in thick Fog and Mist in the dead of night what could go wrong? Noisy wild field chickens (pheasants to non enlightened) making me jump a foot. Dripping fog from the woodland canopy. A dark ascent to the summit.
Join me in my search for an illusive cloud inversion over the South Worcestershire landscape for Sunrise on top of Bredon Hill.
This challenging hill walk in near zero visibility was rewarded with a rare and very uncommon cloud inversion over Worcestershire Hills and the Vale of Evesham. 99% humidity and a light wind made for perfect conditions, but did I prove tall enough to see above it from top of the hill?

Christmas has passed and the new year is well and truly underway, for me however it's been a couple of months of little in the way of creativity or desire to be out with the camera and photographing the landscape.
I have been feeling both frustrated and disinterested in getting out and taking any images let alone filming my endeavours.
So It was at some relief, that I have experienced that creative itch again and I decided to put some of my camera gear to good use.
An opportunity presented itself very recently with my photography mate Mark, that would allow me to get back into the motions of landscape photography and filming my adventures with the camera.
So for you unfortunate lot I'm back on the small silver screen with a short 6 min video showing my adventure at Ramshaw Rocks in the Peak District UK and I hope you enjoy the images I managed to capture in the less than ideal conditions.
I'm a little rusty so the images and my video do leave a lot to be desired, you have been warned :)
