Based on the first Pokemon games, the album spans 9 tracks from battles to cities in my first introduction to the amazing world of Kanto. Viridian Forest, while a bit of a less popular choice, felt appropriate since I happen to live near some beautiful forests and parks! The arrangement takes from my 2014 version, which is quite dated in every sense, but I wanted to add way more rhythm and bass to give this song more of a jammy feel compared to just repeating those two main motifs. You might even hear that Foo Fighters' influence snuck in. Videowise, I had the help of Mattattack again to revisit our favorite nearby park - if you can recognize it, we shot Forest Temple and Gerudo Town here as well! Since we did two videos in one day, Matt and I opted to do a couple fun shots for Viridian Forest using our hopefully-improved process! Shooting, color correcting, and getting a bit of a fast-paced filmic look is exactly what our goal was. METAL VERSION: https://youtu.be/n61FVAAT-2o LittleVMills and I take on this country classic, John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads" in a DOUBLE collaboration - That's right, we figured we can do twice the justice by putting a rockin' metal version on his channel and a more faithful version on mine! I've always enjoyed V's range and killer performance, and was even lucky to perform at ConBravo along with him and more! I hope you all check out his work if you haven't already! As far as making this cover, I decided to stick to the original vibes and teach myself how to make country - not the very processed and arguably poppy style country we see so much, but the folk driven acoustic style from 60s/70s that I really do enjoy! I threw a lot of twangy Stratocaster licks, slides, basic acoustic drums, and manipulated my bass a bit to get that standup sound! Filming this alone was interesting too with the new camera, mostly because.. a freakin yellow jacket was on me half the time.
