Yes it's long but it's worth it. It's as good as any reliable documentary out there. Think of it as the underground loose equivalent of high cost history channel documentaries. Anyway, the Reb Shlomo (http://www.youtube.com/user/TheRebShlomo) is not exactly what I would consider a reliable source on history as it seems his entire body of knowledge is based on the bible, dodgy documentaries and a clear case of unbalanced biased judgment. Though being a Karaite Jew I would expect a little more from him as I see Karaite Judaism a much more reliable and sane form of Judaism except of course for reconstructionist and reform Jews. Now if the Reb would have stuck to his distorted misinterpreted theology I wouldn't bother with him. But since he took a shot at history and archeology I couldn't help myself. Also it seemed like a good opportunity to give out some knowledge to the world which is my first and foremost goal here on YouTube. So in any case this video deals with a question that doesn't really bother scholars in the field for at least 40 years as it has been completely refuted -- are the Jews or Israelites decedents of or connected to the Hyksos ruling dynasty of ancient Egypt? As too often happens religious folks feel it necessary to find tangible scientific evidence for their belief system - why I do not know. I guess they're not too sure about themselves and this Hyksos are Jews thing is maybe one of the most pathetic attempts in doing so - since if that is the case it completely refutes EVERYTHING said in the book of exodus. The Exodus story is of a fundamental importance to all Abrahamic religions as it is the founding story of the nation of Israel and the covenant between the "chosen" people and the "chosen" god. So you can see why religion gets so offended when modern archeology and history casts heavy doubts on the authenticity and factuality of the Exodus story. Among other attempts to prove that the Exodus from Egypt actually happened a line was drawn between the Hyksos and the Hyksos expulsion and the Israelites and their Exodus as it is described in the book of Exodus. The first problem with the Exodus story itself is that of lack of evidence AKA the ex silentio argument which finds no substantial evidence for the Exodus, at least not as it is described in the bible. If anything the Exodus story might have been imported from different groups of people into Israelite tradition and merged with it and later was modified and solidified for political and theological ends. But other facts such as the enormous number of people said to have leave Egypt (600,000 ppl) and the fact that Canaan was occupied by Egypt make the whole story somewhat unreliable.
