#hexen #doom #game Well, well, well. Another nugget dredged up from my dank vault of old projects that have been shelved. This is Dark Epiphany, a (relatively) brief campaign for Hexen I made for my brother a number of years ago.
I had plans for a second episode, but it never eventuated. I think after grinding away at Hexen for months, I wasn't really up for more of the same, so I left it to gather dust. Here it is in all it's mouldy glory! I'll set it up for download one day, but it needs cleaning up.
Whatever else there is to say, it's definitely Hexen.

Map 04! A juicy likkle map from Esselfortium - got some very fond memories of this one from when I first played it. Don't know why I remembered the blue key fight being so fierce. Thank the lord for monster blocking lines. Amen!

"Altars of Madness is a 12-level PWAD for Doom II using Boom-compatible source ports, plus a short outro map. It was first released by Alex Decker (myolden) in June 2022 and subsequently uploaded to the idgames archive on July 9, 2022. All maps are relatively small in size and can be finished in under 10 minutes, with a medium to hard difficulty level, focusing on short, compact combat puzzles. A death exit is placed at the end of each map, forcing pistol starts. The WAD comes with a custom soundtrack that comprises MIDI renditions of tunes from various video games, plus a few songs from the Doom community, featuring no bespoke tracks. All maps in the WAD are named after metal songs."

Map01- Shroom Stronghold. Everything is so CUTE but deadly. Tread with great care in this bright, colourful land or you'll pull back a stump. Beautiful work by Dragonfly!

Map04 - Comms Disarray
What started as a breather from map03 turned out to be quite a fun little circular map with some cheeky fights and a rather tight battle at the end. Overall, I'm quite pleased with this one even though I consider it a bit of a filler map.
