Started off with a look at the Mt. of Transfiguration from a little different angle, one that might shed some light on why Moses and Elijah were there. Then, unfortunately, I had to deal with a particularly pernicious and reprehensible Internet troll's lies and slander, but tried to make an application in seeing the danger of cultic KJVOism. Then I simply read the entirety of the Protevangelium of James. Yep, had a little story time at the end. 90 minutes!

Today we considered the process of inscripturation, the Lord putting His Word into writing as a means of preserving it. We also discussed the adequacy of written language to convey God's thoughts to mankind and the unalterable nature of God's word as the basis of knowing His faithfulness. Started off with technical issues, to be honest (tried a new microphone that didn’t work out well, yet, anyway), and then eventually discussed Tom Buck’s currently running series of articles on Living Out. Then moved to the Traditional Text position (TR) finishing up with a look at the endings of Mark. We will be back on Thursday of this week. Don’t forget the South Texas Bible Conference this weekend, and then next weekend the Sola Scriptura conference in Morgan Hill, CA (see the banner ads up above). Looking forward to seeing our friends! Visit the store at https://doctrineandlife.co/

I guess the single theme of today’s Dividing Line was: let’s interact with the world with gentleness and reverence since, well…the Bible commands us to do so. Thoughts on the development of the “fundamentalist mindset,” a little look at the attitude expressed by “Truth Defenders,” and more. Enjoy!

My apologies for all the coughs and sniffs, I actually feel pretty good, but the voice and sinuses---not so much. Spent time talking about God's decree over against Provisionist palaver (look it up), then looked at some Trent Horn material in preparation for a few weeks from now, and finished up with a real quick section from the Carl Trueman presentation, this time on "doctrinal development."

The first hour was a hodge-podge of topics related to synergism, including a video from Michael Brown on whether we can lose our salvation, material from SBCToday (i.e., the "Traditionalists), etc. Then we talked for a few minutes about Robert Morey, debates, and the infamous "thing/thigh" hadith.

Went just under Mega length today (about 1:50) with three topics: the news coming out last evening that Hank Hanegraaff of CRI has entered the Eastern Orthodox Church for the first 45 minutes or so, then an examination of some of the claims made by Dr. David Allen in his book on the atonement, specifically by name in response to me, and finally a review of a very interesting conversation between myself, Ijaz Ahmed, and Abu Ayoub on secularization and the Christian Church. Talk about covering a wide range again, but, hey, it’s the Dividing Line! Visit the store at https://doctrineandlife.co/

Felt it would be wise to test our new technology before I do the Apologetics Roundtable tomorrow evening, so we did the program that way and I must say, it turned out well! A little warm (I am set up in the warmest room in my house, well, at least during the summer---surely the coolest for the few weeks of winter we have), but other than that, worked fine. Even took a phone call toward the end of the program (thanks to Jordan in Kentucky for a spirited back and forth on the extent of the atonement). But we went over the now infamous "whiteness" graphic which identifies basically adult, mature behavior with "whiteness," and then looked at Thabiti Anyabwile's threat on Twitter from this morning as well. Today's program definitely shows we can "go remote" if we need to while still making it work! Visit the store at https://doctrineandlife.co/

Our main discussion today was based upon Pope Francis' kind letter to Fr. Martin and the LGBTQ folks meeting tomorrow at Fordham University. What does this letter mean, and where is Rome really going today? The alleged "certainty" that flows from the claim of Papal authority is a two-edged sword that really ends up showing us that Rome's "constancy" is a myth. It cannot be maintained. Spent a good bit of time talking about his death penalty stance as well as an illustration. Just over an hour. [Please note: I got so involved with the capital punishment discussion I completely forgot that we needed to get to Leighton Flowers and Colossians 2:12. Next time!]
