An empath assumes everyone else around them is just like them. They are rudely awakened when they realize they are not surrounded by other empaths and have a hard time believing that they only make up about 20% of the population. Empaths feel things deeply and are easily overwhelmed, as they have an extremely reactive neurological system. They are often exhausted and need to spend a lot of time alone and retreat from the world.
