GALVESTON, Texas — An apparent case of mistaken identity in Galveston landed a man locked up for days after police thought he was an escapee. Jeremi Cummins' lawyer said a police K-9 even caused serious damage. Cummins claims he was just leaving the hospital when he was stopped. Video from a surveillance camera outside of UTMB in Galveston shows police pull up beside Cummins, who they thought was an escapee. “He’s telling them, I’m not an escapee, I know what you’re trying to do, but I’m not an escapee,” said Cummins’ attorney, Alberto Ruiz. But officers continue to follow him before releasing the K-9. Omaha Police officer arrested after robbery & carjacking. A former city police officer, fired from the force six years ago, has been arrested for robbery. According to the OPD report, former officer Wendy Redding, 48, was involved in a carjacking.
