Comparing the smoke levels of the Vantage Reloading 124gr 9mm major ammo. FMJ with an exposed lead back vs the JHP bullet.
Both bullets have the exact same load recipe (Silhouette powder, OAL and primers)
Btw the JHPs were also slightly more accurate, looks like I’ll be switching to JHPs for my match ammo.
Visit https://www.vantagereloading.com and Michael will help build you a custom load that works for your gun.

Glad I made the trip up to Custer which is just short of the Canadian border. They ran two 2024 candidate classifiers which was pretty fun. One was a new take on the dreaded Can You Count and the other is an actual full 24 round field course where you get to shoot on the move without stopping. Hope they all make the new rotation soon.

Things happen really fast in the sport of Practical Shooting especially in the USPSA Open Division. Here's a look into what a fast mike would look like. Everything seems fine at first when you see it in full speed but the nasty buggers reveal themselves when you slow the action down.
As the shooter, I couldn't tell if was a mike, I called it as a hit and moved on. Wish I had the FLASH's power.

Lesson learned here. I don't usually look at the timer after every run and somehow almost 4secs was added to my time, probably because the timer got bumped or picked up a close by shot. Always look at the timer peeps! Then follow the RO to look at your handiwork and make sure they're calling the right hits.

Well, what can I say, I thought it was an ammo issue but I used a different batch of ammo and the gun still locks up. Everything runs well when I switch to my backup so I have no idea what's going on.
I'm going to shoot the next match with my backup gun just to take ammo out of the equation. If the backup gun locks up next match, then I know for sure it's an ammo issue.
These Open Gremlins are TOUGH to identify and neutralize. :(

Had a total lack of confidence today taking unnecessary shots, pushing myself when I didn't have to. Shooting Open is such a mental game. Need to find my zen :)
Gorgeous day for shooting though.

Was a messy match for me after a long hiatus. Haven't picked up my gun or dry-fired it for almost a month and it shows. I only managed to win my division because there were very few people shooting Open that match. Anyway, shooting is a perishable skill, practice often!!

Didn't get to go to Inland Empire this weekend because of my daughter's prom but managed to squeeze in a super fast Marysville club match that ended at 2pm. Nice day for shooting and was back home by 3.
