Yat Yuen Restaurant (逸園酒家, 30th January, 1949 to 1953) was located in the foot of the hill, in Sheung Wo Che Tsuen (上禾輋村), Sha Tin (沙田), New Territories (新界). Tourists need to walk for a half mile (800 m) from the Sha Tin Railway Station (沙田火車站), it was just in front of the Sai Lam Temple (西林寺).
In 1948, Mr. Kwok Yat-sing (郭日昇), a squire from Sha Tin, devoted an agricultural land, and persuaded four other residents in Sha Tin (沙田), they are Mr. Ng Siu-chung (吳肇鍾), Mr. Ng Chong (吳莊), Mr. Ching Wing (陳榮) and Mr. Wong Sun (黃燊), they fund raised hundreds of thousands of Hong Kong dollars for the construction cost, built up a Chinese palace with red ochre walls with green tiles, the building was called as "Yat Yuen (逸園)", and opened on lunar 2nd January of the ox year (30th January, 1949), Sunday.

In April, 1954, Ms. Ko Pat-ku (高八姑) leased out the place to a hooligan Mr. Chan Cheung-kai (陳祥開), in monthly HK$ 580 rental fee, Mr. Chan Cheung-kai (陳祥開) rapidly operated an illegal fan-tan den in the place, he seduced a lot of housewives to spend their mad money on the gambling tables. The policeman dispatched some spies to destroyed this illegal casino at 3:30 p.m. on 29th December, 1954, Wednesday, all suspects were arrested back to the police office.
