Abandoned Military Complex - Nike Missile Site LA-88
Exploring the abandoned Nike Missile Site LA-88. I found the information in my video from various online sources, including Wikipedia. The point isn't to document the history of this place, but to provide entertainment, so there may be some technical inaccuracies.
I thought I might share the footage I captured of the aurora borealis in Alaska. This is from my road trip in 2019. I was constantly on the lookout for auroras, and I thought I had seen some good ones until this night. I have no frame of reference to know if this is considered a strong aurora or not, but I was completely in awe that night.

During September of 2019, I drove the Dalton Highway in Alaska. Atigun Pass is the most dangerous part of what has been called the most dangerous highway. It's a beautiful, but desolate and remote highway with lots of wildlife, and stunning views. I loved driving it, and I hope that one day I can do it again on another trip through Alaska.
If you're considering this trip as part of your road trip through Alaska, I highly recommend it, but make sure your rental allows it, or that you are driving your own vehicle (high-clearance, 4wd preferred). Make sure you plan ahead. Plan on being self-sufficient. Read and understand the BLM visitor's guide (link below). I recommend printing the guide as well, so you have a paper map. It's hard to get lost, since there are virtually no connecting roads, but it is nice to know what points of interest are coming up.

Also, if you are planning a road trip that takes you through Dawson City in Yukon Territory, Canada and this type of scenery and remoteness appeals to you, it's worth looking at the Dempster Highway. I hear it's very similar, but I didn't drive the Dempster because I didn't give myself enough time when I told the Canadian border patrol how long I was staying in Canada. I fully regret that I didn't drive it, and if I plan another trip up to that part of the world, I will definitely include it in my travels.
