Chances are, when diving into the first episode of an anime, you’re NOT going in blind. You’re biased. Maybe you’ve read a synopsis, caught some of the hype on reddit, seen a chunky score on MAL, or in my case caught a glimpse of the character designs in some stills and thought, NOPE.
That was stupid. I’m stupid, and at the risk of sounding cliche - something something don’t judge manga by their coverart. It’s not even the first time I’ve done it. The promised Neverland drops in the Winter 2019 split, and I’m thinking, what does this show have to offer me? How am I supposed to resonate with these idiot kids and their overly-childish character designs, and why the hell is it soaring in the volume sales chart and jump popularity polls. Outrageous. How dare they. Six months later I’m eating these words, finishing the show in a single day, turned full yakusoku fanboy.
Fast forward a couple more months, and I’m skulking through MAL top anime anime lists, and I’ve heard OF made in abyss, but I’ve never seen any clips or art work. I do some more digging and come across images of the cast and I’m thinking, haha not in this lifetime. I'm not a fan of Ghibli, and as soon as I caught my first glimpse of made in abyss illustrations I had already drawn conclusions. I’m too old to empathise with these kids, there's nothing here for me.

The show is incredible. It can be boiled down to children brimming with innocence, living through the wildest extent of their imagination, yet being faced with impossible decision making and choices with horrific consequences. A rich world of mystery with a call to adventure so strong that I want to see every inch explored, but held together with a twisted narrative with a healthy dose of tragedy and gore at the level of nightmare fuel.
Pastel colours and Japanese Disney-esque character designs are thrown against blood thirsty beasts that could be found the Dark Souls universe. Carefree children and characters that could have been ripped out my my neighbor totoro, sharing scenes with demonic creatures that you would expect to see in Berserk.
For the supporting cast, I loved everything about Ozen’s character. Specifically, her hulking design, and the duality of her personality, toeing the line between being sinister and mothering, and constantly wondering how much of her sanity she has actually managed to keep from the abyss.

Kimetsu no Yaiba 205 Finale - Going through all of descendants, reincarnations and throwbacks. 鬼滅の刃

Yo wassup. Demon Slayer 205, the finale of Kimetsu no Yaiba’s manga run. Put down the tissues and let's break this final chapter down panel by panel.
And whether you’ve seen it or not, in my spoiler video for this chapter I essentially described this as almost a love letter to the character cast as Gotouge has written back in all of our favorites in the form of Descendants and Reincarnations; approximately 3 generations into the future following sunrise showdown arc. And there's a whooole bunch of em.
Starting with, Kanao and Tanjio’s descendents, Kamado Kanata exhibiting Kaano’s physical traits along side his brother Kamado Sumihiko, the spitting image of Tanjiro, minus a mark.
Next we find Agatsuma Yoshiteru, Zenitsu 2.0, identical to the orginal original, in his younger years when Zenitsu still had black hair. He’s reading about the exploits of his ancestors saving the world,
up until his sister Agatsuma Touko drop kicks him in the back. She looking a super agro nezuko. The pair of course, descendents of Zenitsu and Nezuko. I know at least a couple of you guys are pretty happy about this confirmation.
Next we see Touko swooning at her phone as she sees a picture of the famous athlete Uzui Tenma flash up, a descendant of Uzui Tengen the former wind pillar. Tengen didn’t lose his life and didn’t have the mark so safe to assume he wouldn’t have died at 25, as is common for the curse of the mark and this is his descendent.
And maybe you dont recognise his girl-ish good looks without that mask, but here we have Inosuke’s descendent, and as fate would have it, he’s a professional botanist who has been researching the blue spider lilies after they had finally been found.
A nice subtle jab at Muzan, knowing that he had been seeking it out for around a thousand years and it would be found only a hundred years or so after his death.
Next we see Muichiro’s reincarnation, a mother pushing along two twins with hair just like tokito muichiro and yuichiro. And whats cool with this is that as the two original twins were descendents to the original breath of the sun user, it at least satisfies me knowing that yoriichi and kokushibos visage continues.
Next up are passers by, shinobu and kanae reincarnations. Followed up with Touko & Yoshiteru, Nezuko and Zenitsu 2.0 meeting up with Kanata, the reimagined Kanao genderbend. And you know what, it’s weird, they’re a couple, and sure theres 3 generations between them, but tanjiro’s great grand son dating nezuko’s great grand daughter is weird, right? Maybe?

Is it me or is there a repeating pattern of, Denji fighting for his life tooth and nail, and then the following chapter Makima just wrapping Denji round her finger with promises of fulfilling his wildest dreams and teasing him with what could be.
Well damn I guess it’s one of those, Chainsaw Man chapter 80 spoilers are out and it looks like a mini time skip, maybe days, weeks, months after the tragic fight between my two boys. And Before seeing Makima seduce Denji, We see Aki’s estate was divided up and it looks like he has given half to dead ol’ himeno’s family and half to Denji.
And honestly the money looks to be doing Denji wonders, as he goes on to say with the money he was able to rent a nice place for himself and power, even if it is a little tight he genuinely seems to be happy.
Afterall simple Denji has always enjoyed the simple things in life, as he talks about using the money to buy delicious food and trying eel for the first time. He’s even been able to enjoy his time with power outside of work with them playing games together and watching movies.
But all of that is nothing, compared to the time he has been able to spend with Makima, our favorite seductress, the control devil.
And, it’s a bit of a weird scene, as the first time we met Makima she had alluded to Denji becoming her loyal dog, and I had always assumed she meant a faithful subordinate. But perhaps back then she was revealing a little bit of herself and her interests, as we see the pair relaxing around what seem to be three of Makima’s pet dogs, excluding Denji and Pochita that is.
Playtime with the dogs comes to a close as Makima shifts into power thott mode, grasping Denji’s hand and she says.

Makima follows up with

Stoppppppppp. We’re in the darkest timeline. That’s not what you’re supposed to wish for Denjiiii. Oh well. And there oes my prediction for this week with Power being the next one to get shredded by chainsaw blade’s teeth.

Here’s a story. In 2019 I thought hey, let’s make a youtube channel and shoot videos talking about the best anime ever hunter hunter, just need an avatar and a banner yeah let’s go with Gon in his sicko mode.
Now I just need to make a few bangers, lets start with an obscure one about chimera ants then next I’ll cover…. AND THIS IS Where it all went wrong. Demon Slayer Videos, Berserk videos, Made in abyss, Chainsaw Man 100+ videos in the wrong direction.
But that ends today, we’re jumping back in balls first into the nitty gritty,back to hunter hunter, back to the big brain analysis asking the hard hitting questions that every other gamer e-boy is too scared to ask. Yo what happened to Gon’s fishing rod?
Now, other anime are guilty of this too, starting out with the main character wielding an iconic weapon or technique then over time usually due to power creep, they lose that part of their arsenal or at least it’s heavily downplayed and it feels like part of the character that you yourself have grown to love, has suddenly disappeared…
Both in-combat and as part of Gon’s character design, the fishing pole was an integral part of his identity, and now it isn’t. And maybe you even start questioning the the validity of the fishing pole itself wondering how stupid it would have been if Gon was slapping pitou to death with his rod, instead of what we actually got. Gon crushing Pitou’s cranium over and over with his new melon sized fist.
But then you think back to the fishing pole good times. Gon using his fishing rod in a rematch versus Gido, the legless spinning top virgin. Having lost in his first bout versus the living beyblade, Gon and Gido square off once more and this time Gon’s back with a plan to take him down, hook line and sinker. Gido launches his remote spinning top missiles at Gon with little effect,Gon has no intention of losing to the same trick twice. Gon launches his counter attack by pulling his fishing pole back, and casting the weighted hook towards Gido at incredible speed, but it misses.
The spectators agape that the attack over shot, passing the spinning douche without doing damage, Gon took his shot, and missed. Or did he? As we see the fishing hook, grip the tilestone floor block flipping gido into the air rendering Gido completely vulnerable to Gon’s devastating finishing blow.
Oh and you better believe it gets nastier from here. Episode 16. Hisoka, widely known insaniac clown, child enthusiast, in a moment of weakness he caves to his primal bloodlust and decides to murder a scrub hunter examinee to blow off a little steam.

Chapter 116 pretty much nailed how futile resistance is for both special grade curse spirits and the Jujutsu sorcerers a like. And I’m here like [BRUH] how can chapter 116 of Jujutstu Kaisen be any different.
But maybe there’s a way. Assuming Gojo isn’t getting out of his box anytime soon, then there’s three people on the planet I think may stand a chance at, well not matching Sukuna, but at the very least slowing him down.
First being special grade sorcerer Yuta Okkotsu. Yet to have made his debut in the main story timeline, but we know just how strong he is from the sidestory prequel, but what we don’t know is how much he could have potentially improved between then and now.
Secondly there's the other remaining special grade sorcerer, Yuki Tsukumo. Not that we have any inkling of how strong she actually is, although if we believe in the ranking system we’d have to assume she has power equivalent to the likes of old geto, yuta, and possibly even Gojo.
And third, perhaps Itadori can do something to restrain Sukuna. I know we’ve been led to believe that because of having consumed the fingers instantly with zero rest between each serving, Yuji has submitted his body. But perhaps this is Sukuna bluffing about killing everyone and Yuji’s lack of control is related to the contract they agreed upon previously. As long as Yuji doesn’t suppress him a la the power of friendship, I’m pretty open and excited to see where this is heading.
Now let's talk about our favorite volcano headed magma filled punching bag Jogo. He’s dead, right? Isn’t this how it’s supposed to play out? I’m assuming we’ll get a monologue from him and maybe a flashback and we’ll get Sukuna chop down his waving death flag with the classic close shave that only a triple bladed Sukuna razor can deliver.
For clarity, I’m guessing it’s Jogo’s time to go because he transported and passed on the fingers. As well as had multiple top billed fights. What's left for him? He’s expired, he’s done, get him outta here.
With Jogo dead we can also get the classic “bad guy explaining there secret move” which was hilariously dodged this chapter gone as Sukuna just flexes on Jogo saying he won’t be declaring his technique, because he doesn’t even NEED the power buff that comes with the declaration. HA.
Now playing devils advocate, I know I said we’ll assume Gojo stays boxed up next chapter, but considering just how small the talent pool is for sorcerers to oppose Sukuna, maybe having him back in the fight is the only way to progress the story. Let’s be real. In this fight, Grade 1 sorceres are trash. Nanami, Maki and Naobito all got dumpstered quick by just Jogo, let alone standing a chance

Demon Slayer chapter 205, the Kimetsu no Yaiba finale is here ending it’s juggernaut run in weekly shounen jump. Well, the Japanese leaks and clean Korean scans are around, and the fan scanlations will follow shortly and man, what a divisive ending for the series.
Seriously, this is going to divide the fanbase down the middle, and obviously Gotouge wasn’t going to keep everyone happy with her desired ending, but this does feel like a particularly inflammatory way to go about it.
Do any of you guys remember the final moments of Dragonball GT, with Goku and Vegeta’s descendents battling it out in one last final martial arts tournament.
Well picture that in the demon slayer universe, reincarnating every prominent demon slayer getting the gang back together, but then in an unreal twist, pivoting to a high school slice of life Parkour series. And I swear I’m not even kidding theres around 10 to 12 panels some even full page of these knock off demon slayers doing parkour around town it is BIzarre. But kinda cool nonetheless.
And reincarnation really seems to be the name of the game, with the exception of Yushiro and Kiriya the ubuyashiki kid, Gotouge almost egregiously shoe horns in re-imagined persona’s of the fallen demon slayers we loved, in this modern world setting.
And as I said originally, depending on the closure you were after, this ending will either be a satisfying close-out, seeing the descendents of the characters you had been shipping for the last 200 chapters, or perhaps not satisfying at all.
Perhaps you’re wondering why the final chapter is centered around these new characters we’ve never met before and have no attachment to in a foreign world far removed from the one demons roamed in. I’d be willing to bet at least half of you were hoping for a chapter with Tanjiro Kanao, Zenitsu Nezuko and Inosuke Aoi enjoying life maybe a couple of years after the Muzan climax.
In honesty, while reflecting on the chapter I have some pretty mixed feelings, and I’m going to stew on it for a while before I start praising or bashing on it. At the very least, I’m a big fan of al the call backs and easter eggs and nods in this chapter to good times past,
and it’s definitely inspired me to re-read the series from the beginning and re-discover how this series snowballed into one of the fastest selling manga ever.

As expected of a contemporary shounen battle manga in the climax of a fight between two of the most powerful characters in their universe, the chapter opens up with Kobeni slamming it out on Dance Dance Revolution, gunning for a perfect score like the perfect human she is, I love you Kobeni.
All the while Chainsaw Man is watching her go, chilling on the curb, arms crossed, not a care in the world, drowning in big dig energy, as if he wasn’t sent plummeting back to earth from space just a chapter ago.
But Makima the hyper-Karen has zero chill and quickly puts an end to their arcade game fun utilizing her army of simps. Her chains of control connect to a group of public safety bureau operatives from their torso to hers, and although in one panel it looks as the chains are connected to Makima’s stomach, in another panel it looks as if the chains are attached from around about 10 inches lower, IF YOU KNOW WHAT I AM SAYING.
BDSM aside, we get around 5 whole pages of the public cheering on Chainsaw Man. They love him. Can’t get enough of him. You’d think a guy with a chainsaw for a head would be a little more polarizing, but it looks like taking down the gun devil, the biggest shared fear the world-over has paid dividends, and now chainsaw man is hotter than satan’s toenails.
And unless these crowds of people are gonna start sharing their energy for a chainsaw man spirit bomb, it’s all kinds of uselessly timewasting, considering Makima has just summoned the Angel Devil, SACRIFICED 1000 YEARS worth of life FROM THE SAFETY BUREAU CRONIES, SPAWNED SOME DEVIL GOLIATH BEINGS IN THE SKY AND SHOT A BLACK ENERGY SPEAR THROUGH CHAINSAW MAN’S CHEST, leaving him a bloody mess in the streets.
You are done mate.
But is he? My predictions for this week is that we are going to see the fan boys and girls in the last panel, the ones waiving around their own chainsaws, break loose into the crowd, and for denji’s sake, they’ll start carving up some innocents and make a blood buffet to get Denji back on his feet.
So, kind of like a dbz spirit bomb but instead of people sacrificing a bit of ki and sending good vibes to the hero, they’re gonna involuntarily donate a couple gallons of blood. Each.

Jogo out here thinking he’s hot stuff, while Sukuna’s smirking sideways like he’s about to drop the most fire album of 2020, you love to see it.
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 116 opens up with a cover page that pretty much sums up what's to come. A Full confidence Sukuna cradling a fireball in the palm of his hand, as if he’s toying with it. And you guessed it, the symbolism is bang on, as Sukuna’s actual plaything all along has been fire personified, the cure spirit Jogo.
The actual artwork for the cover page is a masterclass in simplicity, with Sukuna’s fiery hand in the foreground draping Sukuna’s menacing stare deeper in the panel with foreboding overcasting shadow. This is how you know it’s going to kick off.
Next up is a double page spread of the two combatants standing on top of the meteor fireball that Jogo summoned previously and through a wide angle shot we can see how the carnage has ripped through the landscape and how far removed these guys are in terms of raw power from the average joe sorcerers and pitiful monkeys, i mean humans.
Following this we get some pretty sleek hand model shots, both of Sukuna and then Jogo manipulating fire with just there hand technique visible on a pitch black background, ultimately leading in to the mexican standoff panel. Jogo opting for the fireball and Sukuna with a classic flame elemental arrow attack.
And what proceeds this is my favorite part of the chapter, completely subverting my expectations as I;m sitting here thinking, here we go, fire beam struggle and a double page spread of a now decimated city as if 10 nukes had just gone off.
But no! Instead we have a bit of a round robin with Sukuna, Jogo, Hanami and Dagon in the spirit realm. I say spirit realm but maybe it’s more akin to purgatory, or to be uber fitting for the these particular curses, perhaps its a dimensional intermediate they visit before the curses are rebirthed, or reincarnated.
Semantics aside, every day is a school day and Sukana sits these kids down. We get some cool exposition about how Mahito is the inverse of humans of the living world and foreshadowing how, despite his appearance and demeanour, really he’s still an infant with exponential growth to come. The absolute bamboozler in this chapter comes up next is Sukuna praising Jogo for being strong and Jogo in turn being reduced to tears. A. Jogo crying is pretty out of character, but I think it elevates the emphasis on the power gap between the two and the reason Jogo is moved, is because he is receiving respect from THE king of curses. And B. it feels pretty out of character for Sukuna to be giving a compliment. But perhaps out of char

Dr Stone - one the most highly anticipated anime series that dropped in the 2019 Summer anime season. Following a super successful run in weekly shonen jump, it was announced last November that it would receive an anime adaption, and as of this video, we are five episodes deep in the world of Stone.
BUT...is the anime series Dr Stone, over hyped?
Hello Anime Fried Chicken here. From what we have seen so far, Dr Stone is a melting pot of thematic genres. An action / adventure struggle for humanity's survival, a seemingly tragic love story, and a psychological battle of ideologies.
Although other-worldly, the show isn’t quite an isekai. The characters aren’t whisked away to a fantasy world or have their subconcious ripped from their body and plunged into the mmorpg they were playing through VR. Instead the series is set thousands (?) of years into the future in a post apocalyptic landscape. Steel structures have rusted away, forests and plant life have grown over the concrete jungle where populaces once thrived, wild animals roam free uninterrupted by the now long gone civilization that once existed in Japan.
It’s Pretty Bleak.
One thing I’ve really enjoyed about this show so far is the pacing. How many times have you started watching the premier episode of an anime, only to have 18 of the 20 minute episode be pure exposition. Slowly showing the world around the protagonist and loosely building their relationships with supporting characters, and perhaps a hint of the antagonistic force that will drive the story.
2 minutes. 2 freaking minutes. Everything is laid out clear as day. Senku is protagonist A, with his primary strengths being his logic and intellect. Protagonist B is Taiju. Nicknamed meathead by Senku, implying he has a disposition for being physically fit and / or strong. Senku’s personality is summed up in a few lines as being sure footed and confident in intelligence and reasoning skills, where as Taiju makes more primal instinctual decisions based on his gut reaction. Their shared dialogue makes it instantly clear they are friends, and being complete contrasts with one another, it’s obvious their differering strengths compliment one another and they are quite the dynamic duo. Thats just the first minute.
The second minute briefly shows Taiju’s trait as the helpless romantic, confessing to YUuZURIHA. And then it happens. The blinding green light that ends the world. Or so you would think. Unsurprisingly, the series doesn't end here. Just a brief 3700 year hiatus for our protagonists.
