This wisdom tooth is covered by the surrounding gum. This is called Pericoronitis. Treating it involves removing the surrounding gum and exposing the wisdom tooth.
A 50 year old healthy male came 15 months after implantation in area 15 & 16. His main complaint being the crowns over the implants were mobile. After the crown was unscrewed the probing depth was 6mm and the X-Ray showed a significant bone loss and the implants were mobile.
Diagnosis: Implants 15 and 16 failed. The treatment of choice explantation immediate implantation with Straumann implants and crestal sinus lift in area of 16.
I also decided to augment the buccle bone with xenograft bone and cross linked membrane (OSSIX Membrane).

A slight departure from showing advanced and complicated periodontal videos but well this does look like a scary mouth problem.
This case was presented recently and shows a bad case of Epulis Fissuratum. It's where excess folds of firm tissue develop and grow inside the mouth due to the rubbing on the edge of miss fitted dentures. More technically: It's a benign hyperplasia of fibrous connective tissue which develops as a reactive lesion to chronic mechanical irritation produced by the flange of a poorly fitting denture.

This is the case of a 52 year old woman who was referred by her dentist for removal of a frictional fibroma which caused aesthetic concern to the patient since it was clearly visible when she spoke or opened her mouth and a functional concern because it disturbed her eating.
What is a irritation fibroma? Irritation fibroma is a benign soft tissue mass caused by continuous irritation of the oral tissue. The excision of soft tissue mass with diode laser is a minimally invasive procedure that insures reliable treatment of fibromas. I choose to use a diode laser due to excellent hemostasis, bio-modulation, no damage to the surrounding tissues, fast healing and almost no post operative pain.

Dental surgery, demonstration showing explantation of a failed implants, including Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) and suturing.
Dental implants are successfully used to replace the missing teeth. Despite the predictability of success of dental implants.
Dental implants have a high success rate, but some people experience dental implant failure. It’s estimated that about 5 to 10 percent of dental implants fail, either shortly after a procedure or months or years later.
Numerous factors can affect the success of a dental implant. These include gums disease, smoking, insufficient jaw bone, medical conditions like uncontrolled diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis, poor dental maintenance, poor oral hygiene, an inexperienced surgeon, type of implants, the precision of surgical technique and misplaced implants.
Examples of misplaced implants:
Placing the implants too buccal which can cause a fracture in the buccal bone
Placing the implants too close to a tooth or to a tooth root – which can lead to bone deficiency around the implant and hence less blood supply.
The patient presented in this case was referred by her prosthodontic, after she complained for the past 2 weeks of pain, swelling and pus formation that came from the implants , implanted by her MFS. The patient is 69 years old and healthy.
