I installed a dual battery system in my Defender using a Blue Sea Systems Automatic Charging Relay. It's rated to 500amps continuous which is plenty for combining batteries for jump starting the vehicle from the second battery should the primary go flat. This unit also comes with a dash mounted switch allowing easy connection or disconnect of the 2 batteries. These relays are produced for the marine environment so suit the Land Rover well! I made a dual battery tray for my Land Rover out of 3mm plate steel and 25mm RHS with a couple mounting tabs on the bottom. During my daily pre-start checks I discover my harmonic balancer was loose, caused by a worn crankshaft key. The key and harmonic balancer were replaced allowing me to continue travelling after waiting a few days for the parts to arrive. Hell Hole Gorge National Park is a newly opened park 1100km's drive west of Brisbane, in outback Queensland's arid Mulga lands. The town of Adavale is the gateway to visit Hell Hole Gorge which is 70km away from the parks entrance. The threatened Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby among many other animals live in the gorge surrounds.
