2020 was the year I experienced more physical pain than I ever imagined.
Lower back pain and sciatica brought me literally to my knees.
Having chosen to take as little painkillers as humanly possible there was no where to hide from the pain.
Although it led to many excruciatingly painful “dark nights of the soul”, it also led to some of the biggest breakthroughs of my life.
One of them was this:
This is not happening TO me. It’s happening FOR me.
How can do much pain and misery be happening FOR me?
By forcing you to stop, put on the breaks and course correct your life.
You’re going in the wrong direction and you don’t even realize it.
Life is simply trying to speak to you through the circumstances in your life.
The question is…Are you listening?
Unless we live with the awareness that everything is happening for us we will continue to struggle to see the lesson (as well as the Divine Perfection) behind every circumstance.
Our challenge is to listen to the signs that life is sending us.
This reminded me of an Oprah quote:
"Difficulties come when you don't pay attention to life's whisper. Life always whispers to you first, but if you ignore the whisper, sooner or later you'll get a scream". ~ Oprah Winfrey
