In this video I will be installing and looking at Archlabs, although this is an Arch based distro with a command line install I thought I would see if any information was available during the install as to how much extra download we would need to complete the desktop, the first ISO (2020.05) was a 688.9MB download, however it was crashing during install, so a second ISO was downloaded which was slightly higher in size at 786.8MB, the install was successful however the extra download needed to complete the install including the XFCE Desktop Environment would have taken the overall size to 1136MB approximately, that's not including the software needed to bring the desktop to a minimum standard for an everyday user complete desktop. Remember we are trying to download a complete desktop ISO under 900MB using mobile data, (Viewer Request) that's the goal. Hope you enjoy the video. In this video I'll be taking a quick look around Xubuntu 20.04, I'm sure most of the hard work achieved for this release was the upgrade to xfce 4.14 with full GTK3 support, probably not a lot to see there, however I'm sure that was a huge task in itself, I take a look at the new Greybird Dark Theme and some other added features I will list as follows: Thunar file manager menu - View-Location Selector to change the path bar view Improvements to HIDPI support Save monitor arrangements Colour Profiles (Personally I have no experience with the Colour Profiles) Notifications Panel plugin allows easy access to Do Not Disturb New Screensaver app for configuring the lock screen Gimp added as a default Image editor LibreOffice Impress added to extend the Office suite. In this video I will be installing and looking around the desktop of Ubuntu Unity, developed by a very young person, unsure of the age? however this young man has his sights set on the Unity desktop to become another official flavour of the Ubuntu derivative range, I like what I see so far. I take you through the installation process and then on a journey through the desktop environment that was once Ubuntu's default desktop from April 2011 with Ubuntu 11.04 until October 2016 with Ubuntu 17.04, the last release using Unity 7 desktop as the default.
