In this quick tip, we explore the remesh to grid sop. This node is great for all sorts of situations, and works by taking a vdb volume of your mesh and re-converting it into polygons.

In this quick-tip, we learn about curved particle motion blur whenever you're rendering with Redshift. Curved motion blur can be a pretty big deal if you're trying to achieve certain effects, and with Houdini / Redshift, it's pretty easy to accomplish once you know how it works.

In this video, we talk about how you can use the gas up res node to improve the quality of your low-resolution simulations. I use the smoke and pyro tool-set for this example, but the same sort of thing can also be applied to any fluid simulation.

Shading Techniques I is the first course in a series that revolves around learning the foundational techniques behind texturing and shading. The workflows presented in part I focus on tri-planar projections, material assignments, and sourcing textures.
In addition, we also have the wizard tower scene to practice with! This environment is designed to include a wide variety of texturing challenges and opportunities. Along the way, you'll learn about how to manage large scenes, work professionally within a pipeline, and make the most of your time through intelligent decision-making.

In this quick tip, we explore the VDB Morph SDF SOP. It's a really cool node that allows you to morph one SDF shape into another. Using it can be tricky though - and there are many pros/cons to consider before using it for a transformation effect.

Welcome to Houdini for the Artist - Modeling I
This course is designed to help you get comfortable with modeling in Houdini. Like always, we'll take a hands-on approach to learning things by creating each item with a specific purpose in mind while exploring a variety of technical and artistic considerations along the way.
Some of the topics include: procedural modeling, traditional hard-surface modeling, the terrain tool-set, curve-based modeling, and how to interactively build things within Houdini's viewport.
With the developments made in Houdini 16 and 17, Houdini's modeling tools are more accessible than ever and can offer a lot to anyone interested in modeling, vfx work, tool-creation, hobbyists, and people that are interested in getting to know Houdini much better in general. If you come from a traditional 3D artist background like myself, this course will certainly make Houdini's modeling tool-set feel much less intimidating.
For technical artists, this course also provides great insight into the various workflows and methodologies which may get used in production - hence offering a perfect spring-board for further pipeline development & tool creation. In addition to these videos, you'll also receive useful resources such as the Houdini modeling cheat-sheet - a helpful collection of hotkeys & relevant interface information. Plus, you'll also get access to extra scene files which help in expediting your learning with the terrain tool-set and comparing various parameters.
