Chichibu Night Festival - Saitama - 秩父夜祭 - 4K Ultra HD
Also known as Chichibu Yomatsuri, the Chichibu Night Festival in Saitama, is considered one of Japan’s top three festivals to feature floats, and it is the principal festival at Chichibu Shrine, the main shrine in Saitama's Chichibu region.
Taking place annually on the 3rd of December, the Chichibu Night Festival is an astonishing matsuri, with its climax taking place in the evening when kasaboko and yatai floats, weighing 10-20 tons each and lit up with countless lanterns, climb up a steep slope with a mikoshi (portable shrine).
Located in the center of Tokyo in the Roppongi district, Tokyo Midtown is a huge complex opened in 2007 that includes offices and headquarters of major companies, such as Fujifilm and Konami. There are also shops, restaurants, museums, the Ritz Carlton Hotel as well as a gorgeous garden that is very popular at the weekend.
Some will argue that Tokyo Midtown may not offer the best shopping mall, but it does offer however a huge selection of restaurants that we definitely suggest you check out if you have time and a bit of cash to spare!

Kyoto Oharano Shrine - 大原野神社 - 4K Ultra HD : Erected in 768 and located in in the south-west area of Kyoto on the slopes of Mount Oshio, Oharano Shrine is a Shinto shrine related to the Fujiwara clan, one of Japanese history’s most powerful families from 794 to 1185.
It is said that that when the capital was moved from Nara to Nagaoka in 784, the Fujiwara clan invited their god to move to a new shrine at Oharano, and did so by entering the capital riding on the back of a deer. This helps to explain why centuries later, the shrine has dedicated an important place within its grounds to this holy animal.

Jigokudani or Hell Valley is one of the most stunning scenic areas of Noboribetsu in southern Hokkaido. Located just above the Noboribetsu Onsen village, Jigokudani displays hot steam vents, sulfurous streams, and other volcanic activity. It's the main source of water for the Onsen village! While beautiful all year long, it is, however, during autumn that Jigokudani is at its best!

Located deep in a mountainous district of Shimane in the village of Omori, you will find Iwami Ginzan, a historic silver mine now turned museum/attraction that was designated as a World Heritage Site in July 2007. Small in size compared to today’s standard, it is said that the Iwami Ginzan silver mine, was among the top ten producing silver mines in the world. It produced around 38 tons of silver per year, or ⅓ of the world’s production when the mine was still in activity! Its unique and exceptionally high quality silver, known as “Soma Silver”, was the reason for many sources of friction between local clans interested in taking control of all Iwami Ginzan mines since its acquisition in the early 1600s by the Tokugawa Shogunate.
While today the mines are closed, it is still possible for the public to visit part a small section of the network of the 600 shafts that once made Iwami Ginzan, via a 273m long tunnel known as the Ryugenji Mabu Mine Shaft.

Nagano Narai-Juku (Kiso Valley) - 奈良井 - 4K Ultra HD : Located in the southwestern part of Nagano prefecture, Narai-Juku was once a section of this historic Nakasendo Highway connecting Kyoto with Edo (presently known as Tokyo). Because of its strategic location between both cities, Narai-Juku quickly became one of the wealthiest towns in the Kiso Valley.
While similar in its historical role to Tsumago and Magome, two other famous towns on the Nakasendo Highway section of the Kiso Valley, Narai-Juku is today a gorgeous little town filled with many small shops and restaurants that will blow your mind!
Other interesting attractions around Narai-Juku include its many delightful little temples as well as its beautiful modern wooden bridge, Kisho Ohashi, that was build with 300 year old cypress. While it is beautiful both day and night, this bridge is unfortunately very close to one of the busiest national roads of Kiso Valley, and the sounds of the many trucks, even at night, tends to spoil the experience of enjoying the bridge.

Kawaguchiko does not need any introduction. Part of the Fuji five lakes, it’s famous among both Japanese and foreign tourists resulting in hours of traffic jams for the chance to enjoy a view of Mt. Fuji over Kawaguchiko lake. While the area is beautiful all year long, it’s during autumn and spring that Kawaguchiko is at its finest. Today we would like to share a small experience with this “Cinematic” video shot entirely in 60fps handheld and slowed down to 30fps in order to give you a more immersive experience of the beauty of Kawaguchiko Cherry blossoms.
Note : Don’t be fooled by the lack of people on this video, the place was packed and I had to replace the audio track with some music in order to get something worth watching!

Last week we gave you the chance to experience, albeit virtually, Taketomi’s most amazing beaches. Today we will guide you to the Taketomi crown jewel: its main village.
With only 323 inhabitants, Taketomi is a very small village that triples in population during summer. Famous for its perfectly preserved “Okinawa” style houses and sandy streets, Taketomi shines by its simple way of life where time seems to have stopped and where the madness of the world does not seems to have touched this unspoiled paradise.

Snow Storm over Lake Yuno-ko and Senjogahara Marshland - 湯ノ湖 戦場ヶ原 - 4K Ultra HD : Nikko is one of Tochigi prefecture most famous places, known for its huge cultural history, temples, waterfalls and scenery. Among Nikko’s wonders both the lake Yuno-ko and the Senjogahara Marshland are a 'must-see' all year long. A good friend of mine (http://blog.benoa.net/) who also happens to be a professional photographer decided to make the trip over to lake Yunoko to shoot some gorgeous winter landscape pictures and video… Unfortunately, and as you will see on the video above, we got stuck in the middle of a snow storm with mind-blowing winds and temperatures sinking to -7c.
Despite our best efforts we had a lot of difficulties to overcome in order to come-up with a lengthy and detailed video for you today. Still we hope you will enjoy some of the shots we succeeded in salvaging and we promise you that we will return later this month there for a proper TokyoStreetView-like 4K video.
