Disaster in the Park, problems with the Plane, motor, speed controller not sure yet but the plane shut down mid flight no power to the Motor or servos lost complete control of the aircraft. If the ESC Shut down then it is a total loss of power nothing works, motor, receiver, servos all not functioning. No redundancy as the ESC has a BEC , battery eliminating circuit. So all the electricity required for flight, Motor, servos radio receiver signal etc runs on the BEC. No back up is required. If you have the ESC fail then your plane is flying on it's own LOL, you can add a small battery back as back up but 99 percent of the time this is a non issue.
