(Turn on Youtube subtitles for English subtitles) "Wien Neêrlands bloed" ("Those in whom Dutch blood") is a Dutch patriotic song, and was the national anthem of the Kingdom of the Netherlands between 1815 and 1932. The lyrics were written by Hendrik Tollens, and the music composed by Johann Wilhelm Wilms. At the foundation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in 1815, it was decided that a new national anthem was needed, in order to adopt a politically neutral hymn. This new hymn would replace "Het Wilhelmus", which was considered as being too factional due to its Orangist associations. However, by the 20th century, "Wien Neêrlands bloed" was officially replaced by "Het Wilhelmus", which became the national anthem once more on 10 May 1932. The replacement had much to do with the fact the "new" 1815 anthem had become even more controversial than the "Wilhelmus" had been, with Socialists refusing to sing it.
