The head of the Directorate for Defense Technology, Brigadier General Slavko Rakić, from the Ministry of Defense, pointed out at the press conference that "Partner 2023" has grown into the most significant fair of its kind in the region. As Rakić stated: "The increasingly complex security situation in the world and the region directly affected the dynamic development of modern combat systems for the Serbian army", stating that this can be seen from the achievements of the domestic military industry in the period since the previous, tenth fair "Partner 2021", held two years ago. According to him, the priority is to achieve the missing operational capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces, but also that these new systems are competitive on the demanding international market. Aleksandar Lijaković, deputy assistant director of the Public Enterprise "Yugoimport - SDPR" for commercial affairs, indicated that such events are a good opportunity to conclude deals, so thanks to the previous one, producers from Serbia concluded contracts worth 30 million USD with two partners from the African continent. Speaking about the developments on the international arms market, he said that Serbia is among the global producers and sellers of artillery weapons and ammunition, for which the demand in the world is growing. He also announced some premieres at the fair, such as variants of the "Lazar" and "Milos" armored vehicles, as well as artillery news. Upravo je završena srpsko-ruska vazduhoplovna vežba BARS 2018 (BARS – Bratstvo avijatičara Rusije i Srbije). Na horizontu se pojavio MiG-29, prilazeći u niskom letu pisti aerodroma, ali umesto da sleti, pilot je na visini od svega nekoliko metara dao pun gas, ubrzao i zatim prešao u bukvalno vertikalno penjanje. Nekoliko trenutaka kasnije letelica se ponovo ustremila ka aerodromu i zatim propela okrećući se oko svoje ose i manevrišući levo-desno. Sve je delovalo kao atraktivan program aeromitinga, ali pomenute bravure, kako su objasnili prisutni oficiri, bile su zapravo deo vežbe. Konkretno, uvežbavanje napada na ciljeve na zemlji i izbegavanje dejstva neprijateljske protivvazdušne odbrane. Posebno atraktivno bilo je uvežbavanje bliske vazdušne borbe između dva „miga 29”, dok su piloti pokušavali da, izvlačeći maksimum iz ovih aviona, dođu u što bolju poziciju za napad. Reports from both the self proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics in eastern Ukraine, and from a number of Russian sources, have indicated that North Korea is set to dispatch up to 100,000 personnel to support the three parties’ ongoing war effort against the Ukrainian government and its NATO supporters. This follows reports that North Korea would support reconstruction efforts in eastern Ukraine, and Pyongyang’s decision to afford diplomatic recognition to the two republics, which were recognised by Moscow in February. North Korea has a long history of supporting war efforts across the world against Western interests, most notably its contributions to war efforts by Vietnam and Syria including dispatch of technicians, doctors, artillery advisors, and special forces to bolster the Syrian government in the 2010s. Russian sources have highlighted that Korean experience in “counter battery warfare” could be particularly prized, with North Korea fielding considerably more capable artillery systems than Russia itself which previously fuelled speculation that Russia may seek to purchase them to counter NATO artillery deliveries to Ukraine.
