An old Scottish legend we came across, adapted by Lynx. While no claims to truthfulness will be given, it is an interesting story! There is a Polish tale that is very similar; also talking about a child who learns the speech of birds, he too is chased away from home and uses his gifts to help others and make his fortune. Upon his return to his home, his parents wait upon him; the very thing he was chased away for claiming. We can time the legend to the first half of the 1200s, as King Alexander II of Scotland is mentioned, and he ruled from 1214 to his death 6 July 1249.
