Activists submit petitions to make psychedelics "lowest law enforcement priority" in DC
Activists delivered 36,249 signatures to the DC Board of Elections today for an initiative that would make psychedelic plants and fungi such as "Magic Mushrooms" the "lowest law enforcement priority" in Washington D.C.
The activists spoke out and had a dance party as the government began counting the 13,419 pages of signitures.
Assuming at least 35,000 signatures survive any challenges, the proposal - Initiative 81 - will be on the general election ballot in D.C. in November.

On the heels of CPAC, conservative author Mike Cernovich hosted a sequel to his pricey right-wing gala in downtown Washington - and area antifa were there to greet him.
Cernovich’s first dinner, dubbed “A Night for Freedom,” brought conservative personalities including Cassandra Fairbanks, Jack Posobiec, and Gavin McInnes to a dinner in Manhattan on the first anniversary of Trump’s inauguration. Declaring his first event a success, Cernovich set sail for Washington for the next installment of an event left-wing protesters have labeled an “alt-right party.”
Lacy MacAuley, a local antifa organizer, denounced Cernovich’s gala as one put together by and for “privileged white male elite.” With a history of protest against right-wing events in Washington, she announced plans to meet “A Night for Freedom” with an anti-fascist picket at the doors to the Gaylord - counter-programming she instead called “A Fight for Freedom.”
“As a woman and as a survivor of intimate partner violence and sexual assault, I abhor these smug privileged white men who encourage their followers to rape women, who believe that women are inferior, who blame us for the fractured society their capitalist greed has created,” MacAuley said in the press release where she originally announced her intent to meet Cernovich’s event with a “powerful presence of opposition to the fascists present.”
“I encourage you to peacefully protest anything that I ever do,” Cernovich told News2Share in response to anti-fascist plans to protest his gala. “Do you wanna ruin your life? Don’t be violent. Do you want to protest me? Great. I’ll come say ‘hi,’ I’ll talk to you, I’ll give you a hot cocoa if it’s cold outside. You can yell at me whatever you want to yell at me.”
What ensued on Saturday night ultimately proved wholly peaceful, albeit verbally charged. Despite the venue’s location remaining unclear until moments before it started, about two dozen black block protesters gathered outside the City Club in downtown Washington. They hurled insults at attendees, who periodically emerged - drinks in hand - to mock them and take selfies with the protest in the backdrop. A line of police officers separated protesters from the event-goers at the club’s entrance.
Antifa protesters stood outside for over an hour deriding attendees with chants like “you want a red pill, how about a lead pill,” and “any time, any place, punch a Nazi in the face” - the latter referring to Richard Spencer’s infamous run-in with a masked protester last year. They repeatedly demanded to see Cernovich himself, though he never showed. “If he wants to bring me hot chocolate I would lead a chant: ‘we say no to fascist hot cocoa,’” McAuley later said.

"No one wants DeSantis!" Both leftist and pro-Trump protesters gathered in Miami Wednesday to rally against Ron DeSantis running for president.
"The Trumpers don't want DeSantis! The leftists don't want DeSantis! The socialists don't want DeSantis!" one progressive speaker said. "The immigrants don't want DeSantis! The Black people don't want DeSantis! The gay children don't want DeSantis!"
The progressive activists marching DeSantis crossed paths with "Blacks for Trump."
"That's okay! We're not here for Trump, we're here for DeSantis," said someone on the progressive side.
"Yes, I'm against DeSantis because he's a sell-out to our Trump and the deplorables that helped him get in," one Blacks for Trump participant said.
While both the left and the right showed up in Miami to protest against DeSantis, they were separated across the street from one another.
An organizer on the left side noted the unusual nature of them calling for a protest on the same side as right wing personality Laura Loomer, leading to an "alternate timeline where we're sitting across the street protesting the same person and there's Trumpers and leftists!"
"Very interesting, and at least it's something we can agree on!"
Loomer herself attended the pro-Trump side and said "all the worst people support Ron DeSantis."
While the two sides clearly both hate DeSantis, it was also clear that there wasn't a true coalition being formed in Miami. The crowds yelled expletives at one another throughout the event.
"All of us against DeSantis!" the progressives sang.
Finally, the progressive anti-DeSantis side let out an enormous "boo!" all together when they learned he had formally made the presidential announcement they were anticipating.

Daunte Wright's family and attorney spoke about his life to hundreds at his funeral Thursday afternoon.
"My son had a smile that was worth a million dollars," said Katie Wright, mother of Daunte Wright. "He always said he couldn't wait to make his son proud," his mother told the audience of hundreds."
Wright was shot last week by Officer Kim Potter in Brooklyn Center, who claims it was the result of a negligent discharge from mistaking her firearm for a taser.

Ahead of the demonstration inside the Cannon Capitol office building Wednesday afternoon, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib spoke out at the rally outside calling for an Israeli ceasefire.
She spoke of how humanitarian aid to Palestinians is not enough, because it won't bring back lives lost, or prevent more from being taken.
Toward the end of the speech, she cried as she described the pain of seeing videos where Palestinian children are told not to cry in the face of atrocity, when they should be allowed to cry.
Representative Cori Bush spoke after Rep Tlaib, before the demonstration at Cannon demanding Israeli ceasefire.
"We must be willing to speak out against war and violence, and our government's complicity in it," she said. "Are you for war or against war? Are you for saving lives or against saving lives. The time to decide is now. Ceasefire now!"
