Why I Have a Real Planet Named After Me - (33434) Scottmanley
Discovered in 1999 - Minor Planet 33434 has recently been named 'Scottmanley', I didn't discover it, but one of the team members chose to name the object on my behalf. It's common for asteroids to be named to recognize people who have risen to prominence in many fields - Astronomers, Artists, Athletes, and the occasional Pet (although that's been discouraged recently). I'm grateful to Alain Maury who made this possible.
No actual science being done today, but I do need to build out some infrastructure to support remote operations, RemoteTech requires the construction and management of communications networks. Since we just unlocked some serious solar panels it's time to throw up a formation of satellites to manage communications with spacecraft below the horizon

Comments by Elon Musk on Twitter tell us that SpaceX will be turning the Upper stage of Falcon 9 into something closer to the upper stage of the BFR to test key technologies:

Details are of course vague at this time, but after thinking about it I think I have a good idea of what to expect based on what's been revealed, what we know and when this is supposed to fly.

Ever wondered who cleans up after those intense firefights between space marines an aliens?
Viscera Cleanup Detail is an early alpha game concept where you play a space janitor cleaning up a space station after (and maybe during) hostile incursions.
It's developed by RuneStorm games and is available for pre-order and Greenlight

Turns out Squad has some hidden kerbal animations left in the game and by editing the save file you can enable some hidden gameplay options that have very little to do with rocket science.

New images just downloaded from New Horizons show that the 2 lobes of MU69 are highly oblate spheroids, which really changes our view of the object, and simultaneously raises questions of formation process while providing clues as to why it's shaped this way.

This one actually launches from a runway. The undercarriage weighs more than the rest of the aircraft, but will a tiny acceleration I can get it airborne and land smoothly, assuming the sun is high in the sky.

There are over ten thousand satellites in orbit, but only the largest ones in low earth orbit are visible in the hours just after sunset. What would the sky look like if you could see everything in space? I took satellite data and rendered a view of the night sky for an 'average' viewer in North America.

We interrupt my irregular programming to bring an update on the Falcon Heavy hours before the launch.... unless they scrub for weather or some other problem.
Launch is 10:30 PST, and it'll be viewable on spacex.com

The third alpha really makes the alpha into a proper game, now you can jump between the scenarios using hyperdrive and there's a space station foryou to dock at, repair, upgrade and even replace your spaceships.
It's just a wee bit buggy right now.
