First Step Act. Earned Time Credit Vs. Good Time. How it Affects You?
The first step act was passed the end of 2018. One would think by this point the Bureau of prisons would have the organization together and explaining the implementation of earned time credits and how they're doled out. However, it is still very unclear as to how this process is explained. I spoke to a high-ranking BOP official who attempted to explain the process and ultimately sent me this link which is pretty useless and very outdated. This is creating much frustration and confusion for all involved. Stay tune for updated videos as we are actively seeking answers. You all will be the first to know once we have more information. Ryan Park Talks Accountability & Acceptance As He Faces Federal Sentencing
Ryan Park is a dear friend and client. It’s been a bittersweet journey, working with Ryan and his family, as he and his wife, Kimberly Boito, prepare to find out the fate that awaits them at sentencing.
Ryan Park and Kimberly Boito were part of a large Spokane Washington conspiracy ring involving twenty other individuals engaged in various types of insurance fraud occurring over a nine year span.
In this interview, Ryan explains how he justified his actions during the time that the crimes took place. He would say things like "I'm doing this for my family". Like many of us, Ryan did not see the full consequences of his actions until his world came crashing down in 2018, when the FBI was at his door.
Ryan contacted me shortly after finding out that he was part of a massive federal investigation including insurance fraud, wire fraud, mail fraud, bank fraud, conspiracy and more. As we commonly see with clients in the early phase of the federal process, Ryan was in a state of denial, unwilling to accept responsibility for his actions.
Fast-forward to one year later, and you meet an entirely different individual. Ryan and his wife have taken amazing strides toward understanding the consequences of their actions, and more importantly, what led them to commit those actions to begin with. Ryan agreed to do this interview for the purpose of hoping it will help others who are in a similar situation to his own.
I am extremely proud of Ryan for taking this step, which will no doubt assist with his current path of change in order to become the man he is meant to be.
It has been a privilege to not only work with Ryan and his family but also having the chance to get to know them on such a personal level.

About a year prior to going to prison I tore my tendon completely from my bicep. I did not seek medical attention until about 6 weeks prior to going to prison. I had an MRI done that showed my tendon was gone. It had completely deteriorated over the year. My only option was to have a tendon from a cadaver attached to my arm. This was a very intense surgery. I was required to need physical therapy for the next 6 months. The issue at hand, I was to self-surrender to federal prison in the next 3 weeks. Captain Jerrod Grimes had an advisory guideline range of 21 to 27 months or 27 to 33 months depending on the court's resolution of foregoing objections. Jerrod Grimes had a base offense level of 16 to 18. Jerrod Grimes did receive a sentence of 120 months with 10 years of Supervised Release. This sentence would be the equivalent of a Base Offense Level of 30. The Government argues that a sentence of ten years-many times over the iteration of the advisory guideline range - is "necessary to deter others" from engaging in like conduct.

Hi daniel,
First of all, thank you so much for sharing your story. I'm pretty much in the same situation as you and I didn't even know where to look for answers so I went on YouTube and that's how I found you. Watching your video made me feel like I was not alone.
Anyway, so my case is as retarded as they come. I owned a gun shop a couple of years ago while I was also going to school to get my masters degree in natural medicine. During my last year of school I trained my boyfriend and some friends to run the shop so I could focus on school but I never technically employed them. So they would sell guns during the day and I would go to the shop after school and sign off on all paperwork (wich was illegal) since all licences were in my name. Apparently during that time hundreds of guns were bought illegally with fake id's and shipped out of the country (neither I nor my bf or my friends had anything to do with it) and because my signature was all over the place I got investigated. When I was questioned by the ATF I told them the truth and what I knew and what I didn't. Months later I get charged with making false statement to a government agency and grand identity theft.
I pled guilty because I was looking at a maximum sentence of 48 years if I lost at trial and technically I did do what they accused me of. I signed paperwork without being the actual seller or having the buyer present and apparently the government t doesent have to prove that I stole the identities but only that I used those identities in a transaction without persons permision. Btw, the only evidence against me is my own confession.
So here i am. Im 34yrs old, mother of 2 little girls. Never been in trouble in my whole life. My bf is a marine, my brothers are soldiers, my dad is a cop ( bodyguard for the governor of Puerto Rico ) my mom the secretary for the mayor in my town, I am a photographer and I have a masters in medicine, and on January 8 I am going to prison for 24 months.
I am scared. I don't know what it Wil be like. What should I do before I go. How should I prepare. Is there any program I can take advantage of so I can get out sooner like u did. I don't drink or smoke or do drugs so rehab is not going to work for me lol. Also I was told I was going to camp but the email says coleman medium so I'm not sure what is that all about. Is there anything I need to bring with me or make sure I don't bring with me. Any info from ur girlfriends perspective would also be much appreciated.
